Should I go or no?
So, I'm assistant coaching a college cheerleading squad this year and they're currently at camp 2 hours away. They had pre-camp with only the head coach Monday and Tuesday, and now the head coach and other assistant coach (both good friends of DH's and mine) are at camp with them from Wednesday until tomorrow. I really wanted to go but I just couldn't get off work. The college team that I cheered for is at the same camp too and both my old coaches. (actually, I wonder if Strawbericurls is at this same camp too...)
Anyway, they always have "Camp Champs" on the last day, which is a little competition of the skills/routines they've learned. I'm thinking of driving down for it tomorrow. I would have to leave at around 7:00 AM and the whole thing will only be around 2 hours. So basically I'd drive 2 hours, be there for 2, and drive back. I can't decide if it's worth it to go or not. Here's my self-made list:
Reasons not to go:
--It seems wasteful to drive 4 hours total to be there for such a short time, especially with gas prices.
--I'll have to get up really early, and won't be able to spend the day with my hubby.
Reasons to go:
--To show my squad that I care about them. I don't want them to think that it's no big deal to me that I had to miss camp.
--To see my old squad and coaches.
--My best friend from college is also only 2 hours away (in a different direction) so he was thinking of driving out too, to see our college squad.
--It's supposed to be a pretty easy drive - just a few minutes off the major highway.
OK, now make my decision for me!

Heck yea!!!
I loved cheer camp. My best memories of cheerleading are from camp. It would be great for the team for you to be there.

Guano: there's a cheer camp going on here right now. Are you talking somewhere in northeast PA?

Your "reasons to go" list is twice as long as your "reasons not to go" list.
That should tell you something!
You have your husband for the rest of your lives...camp is only temporary.

Befrizzled, that's too funny!! Would you say it will take me 2 hours from Syracuse?

I say go, and bring hubby. Find things to do in the area to make the trip more worth your while, like going to a new restaurant, new museum, something

Yes, I too think you should go - and follow internetchick's suggestions.
If you can't take your hubby perhaps you can hookup with some of your squad buddies and go out afterwards.
Have a great time!

About 2 hours. A little longer if you follow the speed limit, but not by much more than 10 or 15 minutes. It takes my mother 2 hours from the door of our house to the door of my apartment. It's an easy drive, straight down 81. The U is as soon as you get off the one exit (I'm not sure of the number, but you'll find it on expedia or mapquest).
Have fun!

Everytime I'm on the fence about something like this and I choose to skip it, I regret it later. Do you think you'd regret this and wonder how much fun everyone was having and so forth? Plus, you might make some new contacts that could benefit you in the future. I voted go. You have the rest of your life to enjoy your husband.

YAY! Well, hubby actually called and offered to come with me tomorrow - his suggestion not mine! It will be fun too because he cheered in college too (with the 2 guys I'm coaching with) and their squad will be there as well. This looks like it's going to be fun!!!

YAY! We went and we're back now . I'm so glad I went; my squad was really happy I came and it was so nice to see my old coaches. My best friend couldn't make it but it's okay, it was still worth it.
And I think I saw Strawbericurls there! I'm going to start another thread about that.
