Yeah, IMO that's definitely an extreme point of view.

Can someone simplify the bolded statement for me? I have read it a thousand times & cannot figure out if I am reading that correctly...

I read it to mean: This woman's friends immediately jumped on her when she told them she wanted to adopt, without even knowing the reason why. The friends all believe all women should automatically want to have biological children if they are physically able to. So to avoid that knee-jerk, judgmental response from boardies here (i.e., that biological is always better), the OP wanted us to understand there a genetic medical/cosmetic reason why this woman would prefer to adopt.

The bolded is the first half. The second half is that I wanted to see if the people here felt the same as my friends (that if you are capable of having a biological child, then you should and there is no excuse not to). I wanted to leave out the reason behind her wanting to adopt (the lazy eye) in order to see what the knee-jerk response would be from you guys.

Oh, I actually didn't get the bolded bit... I can't emphasize enough how wrong I think that is. No one needs to have a child if they don't want to.

No one should feel that they HAVE to have a biological child just because they can. I don't necessarily agree with your friend's reasoning, but it's her body and her potential offspring. She gets to decide. I think adoption is a beautiful thing, too. It definitely comes with its own set of challenges, but that's part of being a parent.

I hope that whenever she's ready for children, she makes the decision that makes the most sense for her and her family.
