cat owners- Feline Pine, has anyone tried it?

Hey feline lovers, have a couple of adopted kitties (they rock, by the way). so at first i bought the clumpy multi cat litter, can't remember what brand, but not the cheap kind. personally, i dont like it. it clumps WAY TOO MUCH! to the point where the whole little box just turns to solid! its very uncomfortable to clean, and the kitties dont love it because its hard to use after a few days! i try to remove the poop as soon as they go, but i cant! lol. so, i bought Feline Pine which is 100% biodegradable and is supposed to be better at absorbing smell, instead of masking it.

so far, i kinda like the Feline Pine. it doesnt clump, so its kinda iffy to get the poop out... but its not impossible to scoop! it also says you can flush it down the toilet! i havent done this yet, but i wonder, has anyone done this??? is anyone else using it, or used it and have any opinions on it?

thanks.

We use this in the clinic. I like the idea of it, but my cats certainly do not. They refuse to use it.

I have used the pellets and the clumping Feline pine. I prefer the clumping kind because it sifts much more easily with the scoop--I do not flush it, though I have in the past without incident. For me it's been easier to scoop it and toss in the trash.
I've used it. It's OK. My cat is not fussy and will use any litter. I don't flush it, nor do I scoop. I just leave it and change the whole box once a week.

My preference of litter is Yesterday's News, because it's so cheap.
Yep. I've used Feline Pine almost exclusively for a year. I use the pellets. I guess I'm lucky thay my cat isn't a picky boy that way. I like the pellets because they don't track like litter does across hardwoods. I can't stand walking around and feeling that grit.

I also change it about once a week but I've only one cat. My sister also has a cat so when we lived together, we had to change more often.
<insert signature line here>
My cats refuse to use those pellets, yet somehow they still manage to kick them out of the box...

My parents went crazy once at the thought of flushing cat litter--they were afraid it would clog/damage/do something with the septic tank.
I use Feline Pine non-clumping pellets and the cats love it. It's easy to scoop the poop out and I can throw it into the toilet. I use a pan liner and put the litter in it.

my cats dont seem to have a problem with it. my cats always make a mess regardless. so i have one of those traveling boxes, a big one, and i put the litter box in there and i keep it in the downstairs bathroom. no smell issue. i havent flushed the stuff it in the toilet because i would imagine some clogging! i also read it serves as mulch!! again, i havent really experimented with that aspect!

sbb, i could never use those pan liners. my cats scratch the hell out of it and it ends up being a mess!!!! .

Gemini- does it clump to like, a solid matter?! or does it just clump up where they go??? cause the other litter i used, it seemed to spread out so EVERYTHING was stuck together, and it was impossible to clean out at the end of the week.

You want to remove all waste, which includes urine. You can't remove urine with non-clumping or pelleted litter. You also want litter with as low dust possible. Dr. Elsey is a good brand, as is Fresh Step (the non-scented) and any other hard clumping litter with low dust and is scent free.
If it sticks to the bottom, it isn't deep enough.

I like Arm and Hammer unscented. It only clumps where they urinated.

Its actually easy to scoop the urine out with the pellets because you just seperate pellets from the broken down stuff.

I think part of your problem is leaving the litter box for a while without scooping out the urine balls. Ideally, you should do that every day, especially if you have more than one cat sharing one litter box. That avoids the excessive clumping, cuts down on smells, and is much more pleasant for your cats. Many cats will start having litter box issues if it isn't cleaned regularly.

It's really not much of a chore if you do it daily.
I love Feline Pine and have been using it for years with Aurora.. 7+ to be exact I switched to Feline Pine (I use both clumping and non depending which is on sale) I started using it when I heard that the clay stuff is bad for cats because when some cats get out of the box some have a thing with licking the paws so some of that clay is bound to get into the digestive system and cause problems.

my vet loves it too!
