Default Anyone else just slightly nervous...

...about this spacecraft being slammed into the moon tomorrow morning? I can't help but think that this is risky. What if they hit too hard and break off a big chunk? Earth depends on the moon's gravity for so many things. This could throw everything out of whack. It could be like the proverbial butterfly fart that turns into a hurricaine.

You can watch it online live here, around 7am I think: nasa

Im sooooo afraid a big chunk of the moon is going to fall off and a portion of the world will be dark forever. You would think w/ all the technology they have they'd figure out a better way to check for ice and water under the surface.

Meh... not really nervous. I figure those NASA types prolly know what they're doing, and I kinda doubt they'd be do this if there was any significant risk involved.

I'm planning on sleeping through it. If for some reason things go very badly indeed, at least I'll already be with my dogs.

(But maybe I should sleep with my boots on. You know, just in case. As in, "She d----" aw, nevermind.)

We were thinking of staying up for it. We have a pretty good telescope and they said you'll be able to see it.

Yes I'm a little nervous just because I don't know alot about it...time to go educate myself

Oh my!!! this is what i get for not paying attention! I had no idea!
I'd love to beleive those smart dudes know what they're doing but a lot of smart dudes get too confident.
I already have enough difficulty every time it's a full moon... would a piece coming off lessen my full moon craziness??

Yeah, because those NASA propellerheads have never f*cked anything up.

I personally really enjoy the movie but if someone is already freaked out about the possibility of the moon breaking apart it's a pretty scary movie. See above picture.

Hell yeah I was nervous! I kept thinking, "The moon controls the tides. What if there's no more high tides any more?"

I'm a big space dork and LOVED IT. Except I didn't get to see it live because 1. it was in the AM and my brain doesn't quite work that early and 2. I had to go into work early so I didn't have to stay after.

But I know this....today at school....all the kids and the staff were friggin CRAZY in the head. I blame the moon.

I did get to watch the video online when I got home. My hubby was cracking up telling me to close my mouth cause I was drooling

Thank you! I knew there was a recent movie about the moon being blown to bits but I couldn't remember the name. I hate it sometimes when life imitates art. *shudders*
