Saw Diana Gabaldon last night!

Took off work early and drove close to 3 hours to Santa Rosa to see her read and do a book signing. I got there around 3PM, and she wasn't there until 7PM, but I was number 2 in line!!!

My seat was directly in front on her podium. She talked about how she came to be a novelist (parts of her story bring tears to my eyes), and she read a short "non-SPOILER" excerpt from ECHO. She also answered some questions - most of which were about HOW she writes, not "Is this the last book?!" and stuff like that. Only one person asked about a movie deal (which really hasn't changed much other than what most of us all ready know), and I am the only one who asked about the graphic novel.

It was fun being in line for so long, as I got to know some other readers. There were two women who just discovered these books in February. I enjoyed talked with them, as they haven't been through numerous re-reads like I have, and a lot of this is new to them...they were both saying, "We are totally going to Scotland in a couple years!"

Anyways, it was a great experience and well worth the drive!

I left there around 8:30PM, got home around 11PM, up at 6AM to go to work!

If you are a fan, I really do recommend seeing her. She's an awesome reader and public speaker, and hearing her talk about how Jamie and Claire came to be, and how she got started is really great. She's also EXTREMELY funny, but she does have a very dry sense of humor.

Have you finished Echo? I've had it for a few days, and I'm just kinda slogging through the first hundred pages. I hope it gets better.
