I just went and looked.

A "Bersa" Thunder 380. The guy at the shop said it would be good for me since there isn't a lot of kick.

I own several, and I know how to use them. I have a revolver (pistol), a shot gun, and two, large caliber rifles.

I also have three compound bows and a recurve.

...and a big dog. But none of these things are for protection.

We own one Glock 19 semi-automatic. We are most likely going to get another slightly smaller gun that is more suited to misspam's smaller frame. I do love the 9mm, that Glock can about knock me on my a**!

WileE, why all the gun talk lately? LOL

My husband and I own 2 handguns. One is his and one is mine. We took the classes and did the same things our parents did. Keep the ammo way far away from the guns and since my husband’s a bit of a freak he built panels into a piece of furniture he built to hide the guns in. Good luck finding them. Our parents hid their guns in places where we never knew to find them so we did the same thing. We have no problem owning them (or anyone else that does it legally) and we've never used them for anything besides target practice. I hope we never have to use them for anything but that.

I don't understand storing guns unloaded, away from ammo. If I thought I needed a gun...wouldn't I need it loaded?

You would, if you weren't conflicted about owning it and using it.

My husband has three I think. One handgun and two military style rifles. He was raised with hunting, etc. and has the mentality to become familiar with guns so you don't mishandle them, which I can kind of understand. I, however, never touched one until I met him and it was a shotgun which almost blew my shoulder off. But I know the basics on how to point and load it if I ever have to.
We keep our handgun hidden and unloaded but the clip nearby just in case. The others are in a locked closet.

i got mine at academy sports & outdoors. i signed almost as many papers as i did when i bought my house.

i don't have a concealed handgun license. i think you are now allowed to carry them in your car just not into places that say no guns and that's even if you do have a chl. i wasn't really getting to carry it everywhere i go.

i have a 9 mm. i when by how it felt. that one felt right in my hand and had safety features i was comfortable with.

my ammo and gun are together. i'd have to put the cartridge in and **** it but it would be ready to go if i needed to use it for protection in a matter of minutes.

I know how to shoot from my Army training, but I would not have a gun in the house while I have a child in the house. I would also be afraid of someone using it against me, so I would rather take self-defense classes or martial arts.

That said, I think I would enjoy shooting as a hobby. A co-worker of mine wants me to buy a handgun and to go to target practice, but that would really cut into my hair product budget.

As if that's going to happen! Who is this co-worker, anyway? Some kind of straight-haired fanatic? (j/k)

Nope, I actually thought guns were illegal in Australia (were I live) but a little googling has taught me that only self loading guns are illegal, and that you can only own a hand gun if you are a registered member of a legitimate gun club. In 1996 they introduced a buy back scheme to get rid of guns, they offered something like $500 per gun, I guess people decided they would rather have the cash. Also ammunition is really hard to come by, you can't just pick it up at your local K-mart. I can't remember the last time I heard about a shooting or gun related incident, gun control works people!

wow! its so weird to hear you all talking about guns as though they are pints of milk. lol. In england, noone - but noone - owns a gun. well, theres one dude at work who talks about his gun collection a whole lot, but we all live in quiet fear of him and I hope with a passion he isnt a typical example of my neighbours. lol

I dont think I would ever own one. As an animal lover I dont believe in hunting, as target practise I just go bowling, and as protection my father always raised me to never reveal a weapon you werent willing to use.... and I think I would be much more likely to take a shot than I would be willing to shoot someone.

all in all, im better off collecting stamps... or those tiiiiiiny little model cottages...!

Well, we had to protect ourselves from King George, after all. So it's really your fault we're obsessed.

I have a Springfield XD .40 subcompact for conceal carry - I have my conceal permit so it's legal. My husband has a Springfield XD .45 and a 1911. Then he has his assortment of rifles/shotguns for hunting.

I actually find target practice quite a nice way to unwind. And I find that knowing my weapon, how to use it and how to be responsible makes me feel very empowered. As cheesy as that sounds.

I know, right?
I've been working w/ the Police Officers Association in my area & have had the privilege of being able to attend their Citizens Academy...[we graduate next week!]
I seem to have rekindled my interest for this & getting back into this program has given me a new outlook on things, I suppose?!

I have three. Well I guess I have to share with my husband. But I'm a better shot than he is. Don't tell him! I have a Glock 40, a 12 gauge shotgun and a 22 rifle.

Certainly you're not comparing the two? One suffered periods of madness; the other suffers a nation of maniacs.

All this talk about guns, lol.

I went and purchased one today.

A stun gun, mind you. 2.5 million volts, baby! Got it on ebay for only $20.00! Can't wait to get this bad boy in the mail!

The video has a bunch of immature giggling drunk boys, but just one touch with this gun and they drop like flies. I'm happy with my purchase.
