I thought her mother was Peggy Lipton.

And, yes, I think her name is a bit ghetto. It's one step away from Quanteesha, Shanaynay, etc.

Edit Re: her mother: LOL! I didn't see Spidey and CC's posts above!
Quincy was also with Natasha Kinski and did have a child with her...obviously much younger than his girls with Peggy Lipton!

Rashida is not a "ghetto" name (if there is such a thing as a "ghetto name", which I don't believe.) It is a Swahili name - the female version of Rashid. It means "rightly guided" or "wise." It has the same meaning as Sophie/Sophia, Athena, Sonia, and Dara, none of which are "ghetto names."

The name just caught my attention , Rashida is Arabic actually mainly egyptian.

There's crossover between Arabic and Swahili names though - my second son's name can be found listed as both.

I think when people are not familiar with differnt names such as an african name, they would call it ghetto. it irritates me. I once told someone my mom wanted to call me athena, she said," eww! thats so ghetto! where did she get that?" i had to explain to her that it was a greek goddess. i think it has more to do with the fact that some people are unaware that people outside of the US dont always name their kids, tiffany, michael, sarah, ect. i have a greek name and americans have called it ghetto, i just roll my eyes and cut off communication.

I like Rashida, a knew a girl with that name. I think she was from palestine, but dont quote me.
