Yeah, we've been having "Breaking News" alerts about this for the last few hours (I'm in Orlando). It will be interesting to hear the rest of the story. The news said the airbags in his Escalade did not deploy.

I just heard he's been released from ICU. But I am very curious about where he was going at 2:30 in the morning, since the news is reporting that he had just left his driveway when the accident occurred.

"Woods was driving a 2009 black Cadillac Escalade when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant outside his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home, FHP said.FHP said the crash is still under investigation. It said alcohol did not play a role in the crash, but that charges are pending." http://www.wesh.com/news/21740162/detail.html

Seems like he is going to be okay so that's good news!

It's Black Friday, so maybe Walmart?

EDIT: I was kidding, but I guess there's a chance that's true.

^^^yes, that's what i'm wondering. it was a single-car accident, alcohol wasn't involved and the air bags didn't deploy so he wasn't going faster than 55mph, not speeding.

so why charges?

Seems fishy to me.... No alcohol is involved, but you manage to hit a hydrant and a tree--in your driveway--hard enough that your wife has to use golfclubs to smash the windows to get you out? And you're in and out of consciousness? And you end up in ICU?

TMZ (yes, I hate myself for reading it, but I can't help it sometimes) says that he and his wife had been arguing.

WHAAAA???? I just read the other day that some model named Rachel Utchitel claims she's been having or had an affair with him. That would explain the wife swinging golf clubs at the Escalade at 2 AM!

eta: Not saying this is true, just what some of the gossipy websites are blathering about.

when my SO told me about it we were both trying to figure out what really could have happened. given the alleged facts, something is definitely fishy about his story.

It sounded fishy to me that his wife had to use a golf club to break a window to get him out. It didn't sound serious enough or fast enough for him to have been trapped that way. It just doesn't sound right.

I realize this is an odd post...but....a poster mentioned that Tiger's airbag didn't deploy.

Oddly enough, while watching a CSI:Miami episode last week, or this Monday, there was a car crash where the same type of SUV rolled/flipped/crashed, yet the airbag didn't deploy either. None of the CSI agents mentioned this small detail...maybe there is defect with the airbags in those SUVs.

Do airbags only deploy if the vehicle is going a certain speed?

Windflower, yeah. Most airbags only deploy if the vehicle is traveling 30 mph or faster.

OT - Some news accounts mentioned the value of his home... as if that detail adds any significance to his accident and condition... Seriously. Totally unnecessary.

Fishy? I don't know. My husband has left the house in a tizzy after we've had fights. Just because they don't want the world all up in their business doesn't mean there's anything fishy going on.
