OK, I see how to do that. I'm wondering if there is any way to just stop all posts from goofy people from appearing on the News/Live Feed? Aside from un-friending them.

ETA: Duh. OK, now I get it. I also have to click on the rectangle that says to "Hide Person'sName". So cool!

And do people get notified if I un-friend them? I know they can see if I still have them listed as a friend, if they care to look through my short list of friends.

By hiding them, you're just stopping their silly posts from popping up on your news feed and live feed. Un-friending them is, as you wrote, taking them off your friends list. They won't get a notification. But if your list is short, they might notice.

Can anyone shed some light on why everyone is stating that they owe so much money in "fines"? What's going on now?

Dunno, ASQ. Facebook has a lot of memes, maybe it's a new one?

Ugh...not another one! I thought the person I saw doing that was serious, though she was being very cryptic about what the fine was for. I just thought she was being kind of stupid posting personal info then trying to be all private about it, telling people to check their PMs. Figures it was just another "game." I think people feel as if they are clever and "in the loop" or something by participating in those.

Thanks to my FB friends for helping me beat my FB addiction--there's the silver lining!

If independently of my friend's action to their page, I want to view their wall, I would be limited from doing that.

If someone is not friends with both people (like myself in that instance) I don't think facebook should allow that person to see the content their non-friend posted. The exchange doesn't show up on any home feed because it's not between two mutual contacts, but it's still viewable off profiles.
I noticed this too, and I agree. It's very strange and a little unsettling. Just another reason why anything purely private should be limited to the message feature, I guess. What's annoying is that FB keeps changing. So you may assume that things are done a certain way, or that there's a certain degree of privacy, based on what happened in the past.... but then it changes. They don't really fully inform us of the ramifications of these changes. So be careful out there!

IIRC from myspace a few years back its just a stupid little "quiz" based on how many sexual activities you've done, each has a price next to it and you add it up and there's how much your fine is. Stupid really...

All of my friends are in their 30's and married. Why are they still doing this? This is rhetorical question for myself....Wow.

I like Facebook. I'm a little disturbed by some of the people that want to be my "friend". They're really not interested in "friendship" more like spying and gossiping.

At one point I had over 600 "friends". The number has been drastically reduced.

Get notification when someone views your profile.

It looks like you have to join in order for this to work. I can't imagine who'd want to do that.

When you remove someone from your friends do they get a notification? I've always wondered.

No, they don't get a notification. It happened to me this weekend and the only reason I found out was because I tried to let FB go through my Gmail and this person's name popped up as someone I hadn't friended yet Facebook.

If you remove someone chances are they will find out when they try to look at your profile or write on your wall. That little gold lock is always a dead giveaway.

I thought it was a little weird at first too. But as far as I can see, you can control this via privacy settings. You can make it so only your friends can see your wall.

I am going to poke around to see if I can figure out how to change that setting -- so that only friends can see my wall. If I set it that way, does that mean that they can't see my Info tab either? Bugs the heck out of me that people can see what I'm a "fan" of there, so I haven't become of a fan of anything.

You can still hide yourself from Facebook Search results, but your publicly available informationóName, Profile Picture, Networks, Current City, Gender, Friend List, and Pagesówill now be visible to anyone visiting your profile.
Interesting that there's no mention of being able to see someone's wall within a status update exchange (when only one of the individuals is a friend). Very deceptive.

I rarely do status updates, so I'm not very concerned but I'm not sure a lot of people are aware of this.

This shows up on my News Feed or Live Feed. Does anyone know if there is any way for me to block seeing that cr^p?
You're welcome.

As far as not seeing that stuff, you can hide these individuals by scrolling over their comments and clicking to the far right on "hide." I did that with my BIL, who was posting eleventy billion Mafia Wars requests daily. I don't see him on either of my feeds now but he's still able to post comments on any pictures I post or to the occasional status update. It was the perfect solution for me.
You can also just hide the app as opposed to hiding the individual totally. You can hide Mafia Wars so that you no longer have Mafia Wars posts on your wall while still seeing a persons status updates and such.

Very good point! I shouldn't have used BIL's example because I totally meant to hide him.

But yes, I've hidden Farmville, Petville, Cafe World, etc... <-----sorry if I got the names wrong. But when I see one of those games/memes, I hide them, not the friend.

On the top right, next to your name, click on Settings and then Privacy Settings. Then click on Profile Information. You can change it all in there. I have every setting set so only my friends can see.

If you don't want to be able to be found on Google or another search engine, click on Search in the Privacy Settings and uncheck the box that says, "Allow" (if it's checked).
