You can make tarte Tatin with just about any fruit. In terms of tropical fruit, I like mango Tatin.
I don't know if SIB's or LA's admission is more shocking.

I had no idea Saria. I like the idea of banana right now. But I am not baking this weekend due to B having the colon prep this weekend. That would be too cruel when he cannot eat.

Once persimmon season kicks off, I really want to do a persimmon Tatin. And quince Tatin is great, but I've got tons of other plans for my beloved quince.

Persimmon is such a strange word I grew up calling them fuyu. Persimmon makes me giggle lol.
Today is definitely a comfort food sort of a day. I put on a huge pot of gumbo (chicken, crab, shrimp, and homemade andouille sausage) it been simmering 13 hours so it should be good but I know it needs another two days.

Fuyu is one type (and the kind you want for a tarte Tatin). It's also labeled Sharon fruit sometimes. Hachiya is the type acorn-shaped one that needs to be ultra-ripe to enjoy. They make a good treat when put in the freezer and make great persimmon bread. There are also Native American persimmons that I've never seen, but have read can be found in states like Minnesota.

We're going to have leftovers from the fish we had a couple nights ago and I got Dutch crunch bread to go along with it.
Peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

I think I'll have half of a grilled cheese sandwich and salad. I haven't been feeling great today, but I think I can handle this.
Probably cake for dessert because we are celebrating my cousin's birthday later tonight.

Something with lentils.
I really need some new food ideas. Food for one or things that can be frozen. I'm bored with my usual stuff.

Me too! I have a mental block when DH is out of town and I only have to feed myself.
Tonight I'll have pork chops since they were in the freezer and it's one of his least favorite meals. Hopefully my broccoli is still good so I can have that too.

I think I'm going to take the leftover Mexican chicken mixture I did in the slow cooker a few days ago and make enchiladas verde with a jar of green salsa I need to use up. There will be sour cream and shredded cheese involved in the sauce and filling. If my avocado is ripe guacamole will be nom'd.

We're going out for dinner to the restaurant where we had our post-wedding dinner. It's our one-year anniversary. I expect to have a full 3-course meal of deliciousness.

That's me too. At some point DH will be gone to a class for several weeks and I hope I don't end up eating cereal and poptarts every night. For the life of me I can't remember what I did when he was stationed on a ship and gone for 3 months at a time...I bet it involved a hot pocket.

What is a "wet texture"? Meaning too soft? That would be wayyyyy overcooked. It never gets exactly a noodle texture, but stays a bit stiffer actually...
If Mom doesn't beat me to it I think I'll do some sort of free-form enchiladas. The tortillas we have are actually too small to wrap, so they'll be open-faced but more enchilada-like than soft tacos. We have spinach, sour cream, salsas, tomatoes, cheese... and a few thawed chicken breasts we need to use up.
