I had never heard of a Jamaican patty or coco bread until today. Then tonite I opened my newest issue of Saveur magazine and lo and behold there's a pic of coco bread and a little blurb about Jamaican patties. Now I have to go look and see how they are made.

eta Oh those patties look so good. Like a hand pie. Not sure I see the point of putting it in bread since it already seems like a sandwich on it's own (the low-carber in me is worried. haha.). But I will take one of those patties!

The patties were delicious, though my habanero seemed pretty mild since they weren't as spicy as they could have been. Almost satisfied with the dough. I actually think it's too rich and flaky! So next batch of dough will have less fat and a bit more liquid. Tomorrow I make sweet potato, spinach and quark crescents, and caramelized onion, potato, and quark ones. My nephew will never see all those tasty vegetables coming wrapped in their flaky pastry. Mwahaha!

Tonight was chicken with a citrus, spinach and cheese sauce. There were some carrots for color. Yummy!

I've got bolognese simmering at the moment so I'm having that with spaghetti and freezing the left overs.

Ok, that sounds so delicious right now, for some reason. Every once in a while, I get such a craving for a nice, crispy salad...

Those things are HEAVEN!!!!! I told my mother to make sure she has two waiting for me when she greets me at the airport. If not, I am turning around and going right back on a plane.

Depending on where you live (like FL and NYC) they are sometime available on the ground.

Bourdain thinks they are awesome too: skip to 5:40. YouTube - Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations - Jamaica 1:3

For dinner, I am having some pasta and spaghetti. I am lazy.
