Medium texture, normal porosity and elasticity...let's share!

Hey everyone! I wanted to update what I've been using, because I've actually fallen into a routine of consistently good looking hair. Big thanks to Curlsnswirls for the suggestion about lots of moisture in conjunction with glycerin, because that TOTALLY helped me.

The only thing I'm still "playing" with is cleansing. I switch between co-washing with VO5, using AIA's Coconut Cowash, or SheaMoisture's Moisture Retention shampoo. It depends on how gross my head feels.

I still use GVPCB as my RO--I love this stuff. If they ever get rid of it, I will be the saddest panda in history.

After my RO, I put in a little bit of Yes To Carrots Pampering Conditioner, concentrating on my ends, and then gently comb it through with a Denman brush.

Then I supersoak, and apply FSG (which is plain save for 1/2 a tsp of coconut oil) to my soaking wet hair, get out of the shower and plop immediately, but only long enough to get dressed.

After I take out the plop, I've been scrunching in a bunch of LALSG. I like it to get nice and crunchy. When its dry, I SOTC (though it often gets un-crunchy on its own), and I have been a happy camper.

I even get decent 2nd day hair, by just scrunching in water and a little more gel (and sometimes the Organix curl cream, if I'm bored).

The product junkie in me still wants to play with other stuff, but its nice to have a default routine that works!

Ok, I'll jump in here! I am new to CG and this site but wow have they helped me alot.

I am medium/fine texture , medium porosity, medium elasticity.

I still haven't figured out how to do a signature though....

I have been having great results with the following:
Cleanse: SM Coconut and Hibiscus (clarify every 10 days or so)
RO: Aussie moist, Deva OneC, SM Curling milk
LI: SM Restorative (just a tiny bit to bottom third of hair)
Supersoak at this point
Styler: Re:coil or CK or SM Souffle & then LALSG over(HG)
Scrunch out water with old Tshirt
Pixie diffuse

I can't get over how much I love LALSG!!!!! Never cared for a gel before and I have tried MANY!!!

Also, the supersoak, Tshirt scrunch, pixie diffuse has made all the difference in the world for frizz control, curl definition and hold.

So happy I found this site, thanks everyone!!!!
This thread has been dead for a while, but I was hoping others with similar properties might be interested in reviving it? I'm especially curious about your hair's preferences as far as the moisture protein balance is concerned.

my hair seems happy as far as moisture/protein balance goes since i've been using cj deep fix most days -- just enough protein for my hair.
when i was using cj curl rehab and ss deeply decadent, i'd use repair me maybe once a month, less often in winter, and that kept my hair happy.

How weird is it that my hair does is at its best when it is slightly overconditioned?
Has anyone tried devaCurl B'leave in and/or the ultra defining gel with success?
I've been using the MAP method (ScottMusgrave) and love the results. I believe Chupie has a tutorial and a thread somewhere about this method. Scott highly recommends the above mentioned products and I think I will order some when I can. I ordered a cleansing conditioner from Etsy that he also recommends but don't have it yet. I've been using Curl Keeper with better results than ever and having great results with this method with other products as well.
I'm also loving CJ pattern pusha with a little BRHG on top. I have the older version still of the PP. I've experimented with different products using the leave-in+oil, filler and sealer method and squeezing everything into my hair...I get nice clumps and my hair just feels and looks wonderful .

I wanted to add this fantastic hairspray I've been using for several months now, around 6 or more. LOVE, LOVE it!! I use it everyday with fantastic results.

I've also been LOVING my CK and found a new styler that I also Love .
Camille Rose Naturals curl maker, FANTASTIC jelly!

My top stylers are CHS Curl Keeper, Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker, UFDCM, CJPP, KCCC and the Andalou hairspray. I'm loving KCKT and As I am leave ins. Andalou naturals also has a nice leave in that I'm liking. I am currently trying out some other products and ordered a couple more to test out but I've got a feeling I won't be trying anymore products anymore as I've found what works consistently for me .

Bumping!
I Tried combo out today that I love the results of...Original Moxie shape shifter plus MopTop custard=

Still loving my staple gels with a few new products in the mix . I've been experimenting these last few months with DevaCurl B'Leave in, OM shape shifter, OM hold up serum(?), Mop Top custard, Deva styling cream/Supercream...and probably others I can't think of right now.

I'm testing out products before deciding which ones will remain in my rotation for good.

I have been absolutely loving the New DevaCurl line, Decadence NoPoo and OneC, definitely a keeper/repurchase. My hair LOVES these products!

My successful/favorite combos include;
conditioner left in during shower (rinse roots only) or leave-in in very wet hair, add 5-6 drops oil (variety), curl cream (super soak) OR mousse/Foam, gel/custard, top with hard hold gel or serum.
I use a Denman brush after applying my curl cream for added clumping and definition and scrunch with a T-shirt/microfiber towel, and then top with gel/custard + hard hold gel or serum.
I then plop for 10-15 minutes and diffuse til about 80-90% dry. Finish air drying and SOTC..great hair!

I'm also enjoying my Deva dryer/diffuser. I've wanted one for years. I had just the diffuser which worked well but my dryer was too powerful for it and would occasionally shoot it off the dryer. I finally broke down and ordered the kit that came with free bottles of the Deva Decadence NoPoo/OneC. Love, love it!

Anyone having success with any new products or combos?

Hi there

I live in Florida where it's mostly humid. Humectants are a big no-go for me.

I think the ends of my hair are actually high porosity due to bleaching but naturally my hair is normal porosity, normal elasticity and medium thickness.

I'm finding that As I Am products are working great for me. AG conditioner for curly hair is the best rinse out conditioner I've ever tried. And my fav. DC is from Sally's and comes in a little purple pouch. Can't remember what it's called. :/

Does anybody else find that certain products make it feel like there's a "film" over their hair? I'm not really sure how to describe this....
~Current Routine~
Co-Wash: As I Am coconut cowash
Shampoo: As I Am Shampoo (low-poo)
RO: AG Re:Coil Condish
Leave in: As I Am leave in condish
Detangle with wide tooth comb
Style: Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel
Plop with a hair towel and air dry

Experimenting with Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls...

Baby #1 on the way....
2/c 3/a hair (sometimes 2/b, depending on the day, the alignment of the planets, and the mood my hair is in), medium density, normal porosity

I've been doing CG for over a year, and have had great results, but I'm experimenting with new methods the last couple of weeks to try and get more consistent results, especially on my finicky canopy.

Current products:
Cleanser: SM curl & shine, SM fruit fusion
Conditioner: alternating SM curl & shine/ DC One condition (my hair likes to mix it up)
LI: tiny amount of Dr. Bronner's
Oil: almond oil
Gel: DC Ultra Defining

Plop 15-20 minutes, diffuse briefly to define canopy curls

2nd day refresh with spray bottle of water/SM fruit fusion/DC gel combo (plus extra water if I really need to soak my hair to encourage clumps again). I avoided adding LI for a long time, thinking they would over moisturize my curls, but it looks like my hair really likes the moisture boost.
Plop for a few minutes if my hair is really soaked.

I'm trying to avoid becoming a product junkie, so I'm playing with recipes I can make at home, and I'm going to try the Sciency Hair recipe.

Tried an oatmeal masque the other day and had AMAZING results, but it was so messy I don't think I'll do it again.

I'm lazy, so any morning hair routine that takes more than ten minutes is OUT, so any tips for 2nd day hair styles/curl refreshers are appreciated.

Has anybody had luck with using protein treatments to encourage curl? And have you found a great method for applying products? (praying hands vs raking, soaked vs. damp, etc)?
