It has now been a little over 11 months since I had my last hi/lo lights and still a long way to go! Thought I'd post up a couple of pics. Def coming in more 'grey' than 'silver' or 'white'. Still not lovin' the old 'yellow' highlights and kirby grips are my friends! lol
Thanks to all you lovely ladies for your inspiration!

the gray is coming in nicely, you don't have a 'line,' it's blending in well. i remember from 9 months to about 18 months seemed forever, then it seemed like it was reaching some length. you are well on your way!

Agreed - I think it looks great! I love the contrast between my dark hair and my gray hair, but I have to say that I like how your blonde allows for a less obvious "line", as rbb said. It's blending in so nicely! And I do see some silvery strands in there - it's like your gray is highlighting your blonde, and your silver is highlighting your gray. Very pretty!
I just said a page ago that I wasn't going to cut all my hair off, but I don't know - I'm feeling a little bored with my cut now, and with the hunks of super-dark hair on the sides that I just feel look so darned weird. I haven't made a hair appointment yet, though I'm planning to go sometime in the next couple of weeks. We'll see how I feel when I go and what I end up with - and whether I get something to hasten this transition!

OK here are the promised photos. I don't know how to post them in here directly so here's a Fotki. Basically shows many of the colors I've been. It was getting really dark before the big chop. Sorry for the weird face I was making in that one! I'm so excited to see what the color looks like as the gray grows out.

Your hair looks great - in all the styles/colors! I agree that it will be fun watching the gray grow in as the color grows out. And by having shorter hair, you'll end up with pure "virgin" color much faster. Best of luck!!

Wow, that is definitely a big chop - so exciting! It's going to be really cool to see your grays come in.

Thanks so much, rbb and rustina! The kirby grips come in handy to pin the top of my hair to get rid of a parting (a parting doesn't suit me anyway). That, and the fact I'm 6ft tall helps to disguise the top of my head - lol!
@eche429 - bit gutted I can't see your pic as the link is not working for me!

The link didn't work for me either - I had to go to fotki.com and search for her username, but that was pretty easy!

Sorry. Fixed the link. Don't know what I did wrong. I'll be adding pic's as it starts growing. Maybe once a month though that might be too often.

Partyhair! It looks great. I can't wait until mine starts growing!
I must say I reeeeeeeealllly hate the cut and highlights I got. I didn't realize until it was too late that she was giving me a razor cut. Now I have a 1/2" chunk of hair that will do nothing but stick up straight out of my part. Hairspray has become my daily friend.
She also did a really sloppy job with the highlights. Lots of big chunky splotches with space between on one side and really nicely even on the other. Guess I'll have to find another stylist as I grow the gray out.

Eche - sorry you don't like the hair cut you got - that's a shame. I suppose since you're growing out your gray and got a big chop, you're planning on frequent trims until all the colored hair is gone and then growing it out, right? That will allow plenty of time for you to have the hair cut re-shaped by someone who will listen to your request for a cut that is trendy yet appropriate for curly hair. Perhaps browsing magazines or looking online for examples would be helpful. Best of luck!

Yeah I'm not super stressed about it since my hair does grow pretty quickly. I for sure have to find an experienced stylist next time. I know we live in a culture that worships at the alter of youth but boy is there something to be said for experience.
I'm so super excited to see the gray growing in. It's only been a little over a week and I keep checking. I've got to relax and give it time. GROW HAIR GROW!
