Banjo, good luck! And I dislike almost everything about myself when I'm pasty in the winter so I hear you on that.

Banjo, that's my dilemma, too. My hair is the longest it's been in years, past mid back. I'd hate to whack off all that length that took so long to grow.
But...I'm starting to get the itch (yet again) to let it go gray.
And, btw, Banjo, you have beautiful hair!

Banjo, I'm going to still hold off on the graying for a bit. However, I ran across this story of a woman who is keeping her curls and her length while she is growing out her gray. I thought you might be interested. And, no, you're not a crone, nor will you be.

new gray hair products
i just found this shampoo/conditioner for gray hair that seems cg on the going gray looking great website. it is coffee based.
here is the website: www.b3products.com
click on hair, then on perk it up for the shampoo, and the next thing, jitters?, for the conditioner. it lists the ingredients and it seems cg.
what do you think?

Hey Grey Ladies! I'm joining your ranks, although right now I have maybe only 5-6 grey hairs.. but that's 5-6 more than I had last year.
I'm not planning on dyeing over my greys.. I'm looking forward to looking as good as you all. Plus it looks like my greys are a pretty silver color so why hide that?

Welcome, BekkaPoo! I'm probably about 30 - 40% gray over dark ash blonde hair. My DH is happy I'm comfortable going gray (he's balding and gray himself) and one of my DD's thinks it's cool to be different.... I'm doing it because it feels more authentic, it's less costly and it takes less time.
What I've noticed is that I tend to have a lighter, softer look. My grays are scattered about and really reflect the light. They almost give me a bit of a glow - especially in the sunshine. I make sure to wear mascara and darken my blonde eyebrows, otherwise I think I'd just look too faded.
And I'm wearing more silver and white gold jewelry rather than yellow gold. I'd wear platinum - but I don't own any!

I was just reading something yesterday that said grays don't reflect much light. I don't know how a full head of hair will look yet, but the grays I have right now reflect a ton. Like sun on snow. People tell me my hair sparkles

Thank you! Glad to be in the club.. I am purposely pulling out my greys so that more will come in! My BF/fiance is younger than me and he's about 25-30% grey, so now we will match a little more. And your DD is right.. it IS cool to be different.

Can't remember if this has been shared or not. But here's a link to a whole gallery of women who have stopped coloring their hair and embraced their grays.... enjoy!

I am 46 and have had grays for awhile! Apparently there is quite a bit lurking! I color it but will one day let it go gray... 3 "times" in mind: After my 30 year high school reunion...(if I go), when I turn 50... or when I retire.
My husband loves gray hair so he wants me to have it NOW! not yet...
Here is something: I went to a new person for color and cut and she asked me if I ever thought of letting my hair go gray! Every other hair person has told me that I should color it for years and years!

i was always told by hair stylists that my gray would be a good color. regretfully, i colored it for years, and finally took the step and transitioned out. i was 85% gray/white by that time, and the transition stage was awful. i am now fully transitioned and am very surprised at how much i love my color. and, i've been stopped more often by curly women to ask who cuts my hair and what products i use. i think my natural color brings out the best.
it you are not too gray, it might be easier to stop now. it does depend on what color your hair is, of course. if you are a blond, piece of cake!

I found porzellan - remember her? She's apparently joined goinggraylookinggreat's website in their newbie 10 summer class 1 session. Check her out at this page:

Hi,
I thought this might be a good place to start. I just joined naturallycurly.com so "hi" everyone. (I did post a a bit many years ago but I'll be darned if I can remember what my old username was...)
Anyway, I seriously wish to go gray as well. I'd rehash the whole story, but in fact I recently blogged all about it so instead I'll include a link to my blog article which talks about my desire to wear my hair natural. I also chronicle my lifelong struggles with naturally curly hair (in what I hope is an amusing way). Take a look if you are interested http://jumblednous.com/?p=2579.
Thought I would respond here because I am been wondering what the best way to transition is and I have decided against cutting it all off (my blog article shows a pic of me with short hair... not good, not good)...
I think I might do something radical like strip the colour off the top and put a silver toner in and keep the underneath layers dark... maybe something like this (but silver vs. blond):
http://tinyurl.com/2655a4m
Anyway, I will try to document my transition... and I'm totally open to aborting the process at any time I find myself less than impressed with how it is looking!
