This is great!! I don't have time at the moment, but I'm really going to have to share a picture of my gray fuzzies at my forehead hairline.
Again, I'm one who may possibly give my hair a coloring that matches my original haircolor (sort of a neutral midtoned ash....a.k.a. mouse!) with a few cool colored highlights, yet. I'm just not so sure that my gray is going to be gorgeous, so I'll pimp it a bit, if I can. Plus I'm going to have to use an agreeable haircoloring for my now very sensitive scalp. Here's to us!!!! |
I started going grey in my late 40's (about 5 years ago) and decided I wanted to go natural so I didn't color. As it was growing out I did touch up the 'skunk stripe' with Roux Fanciful temporary hair color (I just dabbed it on my part each time I washed and dried my hair).
My hair is now quite white/grey on the top and still dark in the back. You can see my growing out progress in my fotki below. Password is jeepcurlygurl. |

Jeepcurlygirl, I have to admit to you that you are one of my hair idols. I've looked at your photos before, and have to say that they have helped me look forward to embracing the stages. Your hair is gorgeous.
I have to tell you all something: last week, when I was sitting at my special ed unit's end-of-the-year staff meeting, I spent a fair share of my time look assessing the grays of many of my colleagues. LOL. |
Porzellan, you are clearly understood! It's great to have you among us. :glasses8:

Thanks for the compliments! They make my day. And speaking of compliments, I've said this many times before but I'll say it again - I have never gotten as many compliments as I have gotten since going grey. I think that being curly AND grey is just fascinating to people in this age of flatirons and hair dye.
porzellen, your english is just fine and I love your pics. |

I started my transition to gray in 2008 and am pretty much done. I did a photojournal album in my Fotki. It ain't pretty.

The best way to show you the progress of my hair is to compare it to the vibrant color of my 22 year old daughter.
Mine is fading to gray. Right now it's a weird color, but I'm okay with it. |
Kitschy - I love your hair!

I'm not around very much, but I caught this thread on Saturday and found it to be very encouraging. Jeep and I both quit coloring in 09/05. I gave it up, though the next June. Her hair is beautiful and I'm still coloring.
My hair is pretty long now (mid back) and I would really hate to whack it off as it gets grayer. I'm still not firmly convinced I want to stop coloring, but when I see such wonderful silver curly hair, I think, "OK, when are you going to stop coloring already?" :dontknow: |
