Women pay a great amount of money to get their hair to look that way.
It’s simply GORGEOUS!
I say, for the very first time in life, we get to enjoy highlights without worrying about touchups.

That's a gorgeous streak! I've always envied people who have the beautiful natural "highlight" right at the hairline.

"some of us like to think we can be both old AND hip"
another one chiming in here on that one, color or not! Out there, they're all going to just have to get used to it because we're not going anywhere or disappearing into the frumpy middle-aged-and-up woodwork!
Furthermore, we will WEAR what we want, too!

You said it caramix. Today this old lady is wearing skinny jeans, knee high boots, a tight sweater, a poncho, and big bold jewelry. None of it has an age limit written on it anywhere! : )

I'm embracing my grey and I love it. I have streaks and I'm starting to get the salt and pepper everywhere.
I just remembered trying to talk my mom into growing hers out. I remember thinking it was so beautiful on her. So when I started going grey in almost the same exact pattern (grey in a off center streak and temples) I decided to put my money where my mouth is and grow it out.
I totally +1 the comment about enjoying highlights without the touch ups.
I am a firm believer that you are only as old as you act (people have no idea I'm the age I am) and that you can wear whatever you want as long as its your personality. I totally wear big bangles and crazy makeup, people just expect it now.
There will always be haters.

Thanks, wavyblonde - that was a great video! I love Cindy Josephs, she's a great role model! I love her idea that she doesn't want to "hide" her age; instead she feels her age is something to celebrate. How refreshing!!

Fantastic video. It almost made me cry. I can't wait for the day when all women celebrate their age - with or without grey hair, with or without botox, with or without a 'womanly' figure.

Are you embracing or running away from your gray hair?
I've been coloring my grays for the past 15 years and have recently decided to embrace them. I'm about 80% gray and stopped coloring (auburn) in August. So far I've been to 2 different salons in an attempt to find a hairdresser that understands what I want to do and can help me make the transition as painless as possible. No luck. Can any of you who've had success with the transition tell me what the coloring process is so that I can go out and find a competent colorist?

nomadjan - If you haven't yet been to this site, pop over - lots of great information for women who are tired of coloring. As for me, I stopped coloring years ago - and just cut my hair very, very short. I only had about 15% gray at the time, but didn't like brassy look my hair always seemed to take on with color. I'm now about 50% gray and so happy to not need to schedule any life events around trips to the hair dresser! Good luck!

Cindy is a beautiful woman. Those of us who aren't blessed with gorgeous bone structure probably can't pull off her look!

Are you embracing or running away from your grey hair?
Cindy Joseph appears to have a cool-toned complexion, so that grey and silver looks very nice on her, while for people who are very warm in tone, it's a LOT harder to pull off without looking washed out, or having to do serious makeup readjustments, often wearing makeup that really doesn't go with the warm skintone that much, but does go with the hair. She also has skin that is largely free of sun spots which makes a HUGE difference along with her beautiful bone structure. She'll look good when she's 100! While I do admire her approach, it can work for some but not all. The trick is to find what works for oneself, greying naturally or not.

I can't say that I'm embracing it completely, but I get highlights rather than color...so for my lighter hair I go quite awhile in between highlights (4 or 5 months). Even when the 'white' hair begins showing at the root, most people just think that it's part of the highlighting when it's not. I think some women with gray or white hair look fantastic, but at 42, I'm not sure I'd be able to pull off that gracefully yet.

I'm embracing it, though I don't appreciate the Cruella de Vil streak that is concentrating itself just above my left eye. I suppose it unavoidable! My mom has a streak and my father also.

Grays and all
Literally JUST FINISHED my Big Chop, and my skunk streaks are all over the place. And I love them, because I was told that a natural silver is very hard to get, so I like my shiny silver hair.
