Complete fail--waaaaay too shimmery. I think it's even more shimmery than Cover Girl NatureLuxe (or whatever it's called). It's as if it has finely ground glitter in it. Nice, sheer color, but the shimmer makes it a no-go for me. I would have loved this stuff 20 or 30 years ago.

I'm hesitant to cough up for a non-drugstore brand, but at least then I could see what I'm getting before I buy it. Until I can shop at a mall (read: hour's drive and half-day commitment), it's back to layering tinted lip balm and lipstick. ::::::::::shrug::::::::::

Does anyone have a favorite that does not have shimmer?
what color did you get? i have two lip butters, sugar plum and red velvet, neither of which are shimmery. i agree, shimmery is tacky looking! does it say shimmery on the color?

Thumbs up

I use Bonne Bell Lip Lites..yeah, I know!
My fave colors are cappuccino and mocha mousse.
I use the cappuccino more casual dress and the mocha when I'm more dressed up...
I used to use the Cover Girl lip stain stuff...name escapes me!..but found it was like putting paint on my lips...it was too drying...

Default In search of sheer lip color

Not all the Colorburst Lip Butters are sparkly/shimmery. I have Fig Jam and it's not that way at all. The only way to find out which ones are and aren't is either to read some reviews over on MUA, or post a question over there on their makeup board. MUA is very active, so one has a better chance of getting a response from a variety of people. Or check out YouTube videos - there are a number of them now with reviews of the lip butters.

I bought Peach Parfait. Thank goodness it didn't look as orangey as it did it the ad photograph (Emma Stone), but the sparkle killed it.

Instead of having to do all this research, wouldn't it be nice if Revlon would just label their products so people would know which ones have shimmer (aka "kiss of death") and which ones don't? Sorry--poor labeling just ticks me off.

i agree!! they should CLEARLY label it. i would have returned mine if it was and most likely not bought the 2nd one assuming they were all shimmery. can you return it?

No--bought it at Wal-Mart, so I can't return it. I know some places take back used cosmetics, but I'd feel awful returning something like that--it's not as if they can resell it.

i had bought mine at rite aid where i could have returned it if i wanted, but i love the colors i got.
my thinking is this -- the store hopefully would go back to the manufacturer. in department stores there are testers where you can see and even try the cosmetics before purchasing. i understand this is a lower-priced item, but i do believe the labeling is incomplete and in that case i would not have had any qualms about returning it. if it had said it was a shimmer lipstick, that would have made a difference in whether i'd purchase it. it's not as if it stated it was a shimmer lipstick, it did not on the lip butter tube nor on the display case.
in all the years i've shopped at rite aid i've only returned 2 or 3 items.

it's not a lot of money to lose, it's just that if you wanted to buy another one, you'd go through the same process, is it shimmery or not? it's revlon's poor packaging/labeling\display design.

I think I'm just going to avoid Revlon Lip Butters. Based on the photos I'm seeing online, even the ones that aren't supposed to be as shimmery still have some glitter/shimmer. I should have done a bit more research before buying, but I so loved the idea that I could have just one tube of lip product in my purse instead of having to layer lip balm and lipstick. I guess I'll just stick with that routine until I can get to a store that has testers.

At least I'm only out seven bucks.

You know a product is pretty d*&^ shimmery when it's too much even for a 14-year-old! (I offered it to my daughter, who declined.)

I have a few of the lip butters and love them. I'm not a fan of shine and shimmer but I do like a little sheen. These are perfect. I have pink truffle, strawberry shortcake and a few others that have no shimmer. I believe most of them dont. I know the peach one does and I hated it. But these are so worth it. They're gorgeous. It's good to do a swatch look up on google to see what the finish texture is like

I can't tell much from the online photos/swatches. They all look shimmery to me. I am making a list from people's posts, though.

The bummer is that I really liked the color of Peach Parfait, just not the glitter.

Too bad your color choice of Lip Butter didn't work, Verity. I adore my two shades - no shimmer at all - sugar plum and red velvet. These are the first lip products with any color that I really, really like. Prior to these I mostly used aquaphor.

I like these so much, I'm gonna post some photos

1) Sweet Tart
2) Strawberry Shortcake
3) Pink Truffle
None of these have glitter only sheen. I have very pigmented lips and these even out my lips wonderfully.

I want to thank everyone for the Revlon Lip Butter recommendations - I've bought three so far, and I love them! My favorite is the Brown Sugar; it's neutral enough to go with everything. Fab!

I'm a good speller! My iPhone keyboard? Not so much.
