Default Looking Older

Hello curlies,

I am posting on behalf of my mother. She's 4'11", mixed, and turning 50. However, she looks very young, and she's not comfortable with this. She's single, and all those who hit on her are younger because they think she's their age, haha.

So, I ask of you, what hairstyles make you look older? My mother has been doing an updo for sometime. She's had her hair straight and curly. Any suggestions?

Are you SURE she's only 4'1"? Many children are taller than that. Just curious.
More aging makeup piled on, uptight-looking clothes, and stiff hair will instantly make someone look "older" LOL! Maybe you mean that she'd like to look more sophisticated and elegant?

Yes my 7 year old is taller than 4'1", but in any case, she is tiny, yes?

I find it works to just hang out with my teenagers, LOL. When I am with my littlest kids, people tend to think I am in my 30s, when I am with my teens people think I am my age; and when I am with all of them I think people think I am the grandma, LOL. I'm tall but skinny and athletic - I think the body type reads a little younger than curvy and full-bodied.

She may always be *cute* in her looks, if she's just made that way, and shouldn't worry about it. If it were my mom i would just tell her you look good and younger men are good for older women anyway, they can keep up! So perhaps she could also open her mind to dating younger guys, if she is young in her looks and spirit. Not generationally younger, or at least that would ick me, personally, but a some years younger man can be a good match to an active woman, you know?

Would she be into the idea of online dating? That way she could post the age range she is interested in and ignore the ones that are too young.

Haha sorry I meant 4'11"! No, she wouldn't be interested in online dating. She usually has her hair in a very stiff mature kind of updo, and she dresses her age.
