Default Hey ladies! What's new? What's good?

What's happening? What have you done exciting? What have you bought for yourself lately? : )

The weather here has been great - last fall, this winter and spring, all good. Hope to make it to the beach often this summer.

I've been doing a bit of ebay shopping lately. Purses, bras, nail polish, makeup. Makes me happy.

Eating well, working out, sleeping well, destressing (easiest way to do that is to learn to say No to family and friends). Still have 15-20 pounds I'd like to get rid of. It is very stubborn. My thyroid numbers have been off for about a year now so that's probably not helping. But I feel great most of the time so I'm not complaining.

My hair has gotten thinner on my head and thicker on my chin, but I can deal with that. : )

I found a stray pet mouse in my yard this week (yes, weird things like that happen to me all the time. hahaha) so I guess I have a new pet. Spent a fortune on a mouse house and all the accoutrements so New Petie better live awhile. : )

Went on my annual Memorial Day weekend with the oddparents and sister. Live through it yet again.
No other vacations planned this year but there are many nice lakes and beaches and forests here so in a few minutes I can at least pretend to be on vacation.

The gardens are growing, lots of fresh local veggies, fruit, herbs available wherever you turn.

I love summer!!!!

Jeepy, did you ever find the black mouse?

No and I'm very sad about that. Poor Petie is all alone in his new house and black mouse is all alone outside (or more than likely he was supper to a stray cat). If I just would have held onto him tighter....
But Petie seems to be adjusting.

Aw.

You could buy one from a pet store. It would save its life.

Just saying.

I don't know what gender this mouse is (and the instructions I read online are not all that helpful), I don't want babies, and males fight, so unless I can figure out for sure that Petie is a girl I can't get her/him a friend.

My year has been interesting. My baby daughter (aged 24) got married, my MIL died on April 3 - but all in all life is very good.

All five of my kids are married and own their own homes. I could never have imagined their lives would be as successful. I got married at 17 and divorced at 23 with three kids - remarried and blended a family. All signs pointed to failure, but signs often point in the wrong direction.

I'm still about 40 pounds heavier than I want to be - but it just doesn't bother me as much as it once did. I'm healthy, never sick, my BP is fine. Worry and stress do a lot of harm to the body and I've learned to be very kicked-back and accepting of my life in general.

Going to Newport Beach California for vacation in July with the whole fam-damily. I took a vacation to SC in January.

I don't buy things. I'm a miser, and I've never really been too interested in style or fashion. My style is outdoors-crone. It fits me well.

This year has just been crazy for me! I started nursing school in January. So now I'm a single mom of two boys (ages 5 and 7), going to school (very) full time and (barely) managing to keep it all together. My house is a complete disaster but if the choices for my free time are spending it with the boys or cleaning, well then the house will just have to wait. I'm doing really well in school and working my considerable butt off. School is monday and tuesdays from 8:00 to 3:30, off on wednesdays and then I have clinicals on thursday and fridays from 6:30 AM to 3:30 pm. And then a truck load of homework on top of all that. I'm half way through, I graduate in December and then I can get to work being a nurse (LPN). What a tough year this is for me. But it's awesome at the same time! I am loving the nursing program, I'm loving clinicals. I'm loving all the cool things I'm doing and seeing. It's truly fascinating. My boys did excellent in school this year. My family and my guy are incredibly supportive and helpful when it comes to school and helping me with the boys. This year is tough but awesome at the same time!!

Good idea for a thread - it's nice to read what folks are up to! Everyone sounds busy and happy!

Things are going great here. I'm teaching 3 - 4 yoga classes/week, the perfect number for me. I'm busy with my gardening (trees/shrubs/perennials/annuals - hubby does the veggies) and with various clubs. I've put on 10 stubborn pounds this year which I decided to blame on menopause. It couldn't have anything to do with my sweet tooth, right?!

My 3 kids are doing well. Oldest daughter, 24, is living in Austin, TX and runs a dance studio. My second daughter just graduated from Penn State and already landed a job teaching high school chemistry beginning in the fall. The youngest just finished up his first year at U. Mass and did great. He's interning for the 76ers this summer.

My husband is busy with work a lot - but we try to kick back and enjoy the weekends. Last weekend was gorgeous and we spent it at an outdoor wine/jazz festival - lots of fun! We're planning on taking the kids to Jamaica for a week at Christmas time. Life is good!!

Had a great year. I became a freelancer just about a year ago, which was scary, but my full-time job was driving me nuts and the schedule prevented me having any kind of life outside work. Now I'm happy to say I've hardly missed my weekly dance class all year (could rarely make it with my old job), I'm going to Scotland again in a couple of weeks, and have had enough work to pay the bills and save up for my trip. And buy myself occasional (well, maybe frequent) treats on eBay too... scented soap, sunglasses, purses, orthotic shoes , skirts for dancing.

I live by myself, and recently I've noticed that I often don't turn on the TV for a week at a time. I decided that's a good thing.
