Default A tip from Dr. Oz

I saw this Dr. Oz show about aging and what he showed about aging hair was how much oil is naturally lost as we age. It was dramatic. So I gooped on a lot of oil (in my siggie), much more than I usually do. Really coated my dripping hair which also had a little regular condition (Mop Top) left in and scrunched it in before using curl creme and gel and diffusing.

Dried shiineeyyy! Soft fluffy curls - best hair day in weeks. I'm on to something - thought I'd share. Any of you over 40 curlies using oil?

Stylers: Experimenting with cones & sulfates while the dews are high. Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.

I do! I started oil rinsing a couple months ago and I loooove it.

I use jojoba oil. After I shampoo, I work about 2 tablespoons in and let it sit for a minute or so. Then I rinse in warm water. Then I condition. When I rinse [cool water] it feels a little heavier than normal, which is a good sign.

My hair is definitely shinier and smoother for it. Love oil!

I use oils in my deep treatments and I will run a few drops through when it's feeling dry or flyaway, but otherwise my hair does not like a large amount of oils left in it. I have small stringy curls as it is, and oil just makes them stringier.

But aint it great to find new stuff that works for you!

I love the coconut oil. I slept in it, haven't washed it out. My hair didn't look too bad this am except the back of head (where I layed on it, sleeping). So I put more oil there and added some extra, learning to run it thru the strands not just the canopy. Result, very fine curls. May just leave it in for now. Like how it makes my low porosity hair look moisturized!!!

Okay, just looked in the mirror... Will cowash it if I leave the house.

Still learning, "less is more?"...

Sorry I'm no help. But I am learning from all of you. You are all awesome!!! Thanks!!!

Thank you Curlypearl!

Was examining my hairline (forhead) today. More new growth. I haven't noticed any breakage. I know my hair was thinning last year. Looked at a picture today and realized my hairline was higher than it is now. I sure hope I am doing the right things to my hair as to not damage the new growth.
