How did you celebrate the big 4-OH?

Mine is just over a week away,no big plans (no job, no money..oy)

Just wondering if anyone did anything fun or special to celebrate.

Dinner with friends, brunch with the family.

I have been to a loooooooot of big bashes.

My (then) husband invited my entire family and a few friends out to dinner, which was a surprise. It was nice.

unfortunately, i didn't... i'll have to make up for it when i turn 50.

I went back to England for mine and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had three different things - on the Saturday before (bday was on a Mon) I went out for a nice (posh!) meal with SO, parents and sister and bil, on the Sunday my sister did a birthday tea that the kids could be part of too, then on the day we did afternoon tea at a country house in the Lake District. I was spoilt rotten, it was very nice!
I'm not a party person and would have hated a big bash.

I also caught up with friends while I was over there who were turning 40 too, so it was nice to bemoan our age together.

40 was a big (positive) deal for me. I had a small party at my condo.

I didn't celebrate because my family and I were going through a series of illnesses, accidents, and work slowdowns which equaled no money. 4 months after I turned 40 I went out to dinner with a girlfriend, then met up with another girlfriend to get my nose pierced.

I bought the pink scooter I'd always wanted.

My 40th birthday was a nice but very quiet celebration. I had a six-month-old baby at the time.

For years, I've been saying that I want to go on a trip for my 50th, but unless I go alone, that's not an option. There is no one who is willing to take all three of my kids at the same time so I can travel with my husband, and I don't have a group of friends to go with. (Poor, poor pitiful me. ha)

I will have to postpone the trip until my youngest child is in college, so I've decided to treat 50 as just another birthday.

Margaritas and dinner at one of our fav. restaurants with my DH.

The day of my 40th, my boyfriend and I were leaving for a Florida vacation. I went to work for a few hours in the morning and right before leaving at noon I could hear all these people coming down the hallway. They were all there for my surprise party, bringing food and cake, etc.
Then when we got to Florida, my relatives there had planned another surprise party! Fun day.

For my 40th my daughter and best friend had a surprise party for me. The big surprise was the male stripper!

Pregnant! Our youngest child was born not quite three months later.

misspam 12-12-2008 09:31 AM

My husband took me out to dinner at a really nice restaurant so I could pull out all the stops and wear my little black dress and stiletto heels. It was a great night!
