My (then) husband invited my entire family and a few friends out to dinner, which was a surprise. It was nice.

I went back to England for mine and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had three different things - on the Saturday before (bday was on a Mon) I went out for a nice (posh!) meal with SO, parents and sister and bil, on the Sunday my sister did a birthday tea that the kids could be part of too, then on the day we did afternoon tea at a country house in the Lake District. I was spoilt rotten, it was very nice!
I'm not a party person and would have hated a big bash.
I also caught up with friends while I was over there who were turning 40 too, so it was nice to bemoan our age together.

40 was a big (positive) deal for me. I had a small party at my condo.

I didn't celebrate because my family and I were going through a series of illnesses, accidents, and work slowdowns which equaled no money. 4 months after I turned 40 I went out to dinner with a girlfriend, then met up with another girlfriend to get my nose pierced.

My 40th birthday was a nice but very quiet celebration. I had a six-month-old baby at the time.
For years, I've been saying that I want to go on a trip for my 50th, but unless I go alone, that's not an option. There is no one who is willing to take all three of my kids at the same time so I can travel with my husband, and I don't have a group of friends to go with. (Poor, poor pitiful me. ha)
I will have to postpone the trip until my youngest child is in college, so I've decided to treat 50 as just another birthday.

The day of my 40th, my boyfriend and I were leaving for a Florida vacation. I went to work for a few hours in the morning and right before leaving at noon I could hear all these people coming down the hallway. They were all there for my surprise party, bringing food and cake, etc.
Then when we got to Florida, my relatives there had planned another surprise party! Fun day.

wow that was a long time ago for me, i think we had a music party as usual. now my next birthday will be the big SIX oh and i guess we'll do that again. luckily it is 11 months away so i have time to get used to the idea. at one point i thought 60 would be the time i would cut my hair and let it go gray but maybe i will put it off till 70...
for now my big goal for my 60th is to be healthy of course and BUFF. i got a long way to go....

My husband took me out to dinner at a really nice restaurant so I could pull out all the stops and wear my little black dress and stiletto heels. It was a great night!
