One ofmy daughters has 4a hair- I have found that same spot to be more frizzy as well- even with product it is the first spot to frizz up!!!
Product suggestions for a down style would be kinky curly knot today and kinky curly custard- they are hands down the best if you want curl definition on a down style!!!
However, I have been loving protective styles for my daughter- two and three strand twists, twist outs (its about the only way I'll let her wear her hair out anymore), braids, box braids, mini twists, flat twists, etc.
Keeping her hair moisturized should help with frizz- do you deep condition?? I would suggest throwing in a deep conditioning treatment (can be as simple asyourregular conditioner with added oil, like olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, castor oil, etc., or any combo) and letting it set in a little longer or you can make your own (google homemade recipes), or purchasing one already made ( I love Darcy's botanical deep conditioner). I usually deep condition 2x per month but would even consider it weekly!
You could experiment with different products- If mixed chicks is working for you great, but I personally thought it was too dry for my daughters hair.
Here are two other websites that have helped me tremendously:
1. Tightlycurly.com
2. Beads braids and beyond blog (she has a Facebook page too that you can ask questions and get lots of great feedback)
I hope some of this helps!!! Good luck!
