I do not like the CG method. I personally think it makes hair look limp and stringy. I know most people here think otherwise.

I personally like his hair better in the first pic. Just my opinion.

Your son is adorable! !

lol your like my husband . I personally love the CG method but perhaps various hair types respond differently .My husband has been complaining, like I said just as yourself ,his hair looks greasy now .Asked my sister this weekend she said know he probably just needs a hair cut
He does not like anyone to touch his hair ,and I guess I also feel it starts looking messy because of that .My four year old approach is out of bed and ready for the day .lol

I think both pics look good. It seems like CG gives his less volume. I personally don't care for big hair so I like the second pic better. I am modified CG. Full CG makes my hair greasy but I naturally have an oily scalp. Your son's hair doesn't look greasy. I wonder if you lied to your husband and said you used shampoo if his opinion would change. Sometimes it's the idea of not shampooing that turns someone off more so than the actual result.

Myself without the cg my hair has no curl definition
That is probably why I love CG. Actually I had not even
Told my husband till after he started complaining. About what the
CG method was.he had no idea I did not use shampoo.
I just washed my sons hair with Devacurl one conditioner
Then left a pea size amount in his wet hair to dry. First time
And my husband advised whatever it was I did to his son's hair
He wanted it out because it looked greasy.
My son does not want to cut his hair and I fully support
His choice, even more due to the amount of people complaining
To me about his hair being cut

I personally like the before as well. His hair seems to have more body and isn't so weighed down. I think the cg method benefits those with more tighter curl patterns or it really just depends on what type of hair you have. You can still use a non sulfate shampoo and still be curly girl (or boy) in his case. lol

I like both but prefer pic 1. I'm partial to big hair. Maybe there is a compromise like a once a month clarifying shampoo.

Your sons hair looks very similar to my son. I prefer a little bit of the two. I like the fullness of number one but the ringlets and shininess in number two is what I would like more of. I'm not sure what products you're using, but until I figured out the right combination number two is what my sons hair looked like. Now I think it is more in between the two but I'm able to be CG.

Default I love his curls

And I like the first pic better You could smooth a teeny bit of coconut oil over it with your palms to give it a more "conditioned" look. My hair gets greasy with the CG method so I shampoo occasionally but not every time. My DD is never shampooed and solidly CG but her hair needs way more moisture than mine.

maybe you should ease on the conditioner? maybe it will turn into a medium and not look as weighed down as you like and not as big as your husband likes?

I think both look good. Perhaps though if you tweaked the routine a bit your husband would come around. He seems to be objecting to the "pieciness" of it. If you try lighter conditioners or gels or mousses (or whatever), you may still get the definition you love and it'll look less greasy to your husband. I went through phases where I had more definition, but definitely looked greasy and it took some time to find the right routine. My wavy curls are loose and I have to be careful using products on it.

But your husband reminds me of mine a bit. When he first found out that I wasn't using shampoo on our 5 year old daughter he nearly marched her right upstairs and did it himself. He's come around now. He's a curly guy himself and although I haven't convinced him to give up on shampoo, he has learned to use leave-ins and to never brush his hair. Both his and our daughter's hair has never looked so good!

For some reason I can't see the pictures above. But I agree with others that you may just need to do some tweaking and try lighter conditioners or do an occasion low-poo to keep his hair from getting too weighed down or even greasy looking.

You know, it's so silly - it's not like you're not washing his hair, you're just not shampooing it. And, after all, it's only been for the past 100 years or so that anyone's shampooed.

wow I love his hair in the first picture! looks way better! It looks like all it needs is a light coat of gel/curl pudding/oil whatever run gently over the canopy of his head to tame the ever so slight frizz and it would be perfect!

the second pic is too greasy looking, makes him look like he is auditioning for fabio JR or something lol.

have you tried modified CG? even a shampoo with no sulfates might be better than nothing. only once a week. an all natural one. then your hubby thinks he is getting shampooed (even tho its got no sulfates), and his hair mightnt be so weighed down with product or conditioner.

the other option is rinsing a little of the conditioner out so you only have half as much in there?

but if your little boy is happy with it, and you are too, i guess theres no need to do anything!

but i really do love that first photo, what a cutie, what a head of gorgous hair!

I prefer the first pic. More volume, less messy.

I agree with using a sulfate free shampoo. I use my Shea Moisture No Poo once a week. Also you might want to change conditioners. I have the same one and noticed my hair looked greasier when I use it. You have to be careful with dark hair from my experience (my natural color is a dark brown if not black) it can easily look greasy. It's one of the reasons why I dye it light brown lol. He's a cutie
