My daughter has waist length 3b curls. We've done well w/Deva Curl (no-poo, one condition, and angel) for the past year with Coconut oil the night before the wash for a deep condition. We've had two difficulties: constant fight of dryness, and now we are getting sticky hair too. We do use One condition w/water as an "in between shampoos" detangler.
We've also tried Texture My Way, not enough slip in the conditioner. And, Curl Keeper, had to use too much to keep the curls (nearly 1/2 a small bottle). We wash once a week.
Suggestions please. I'm open to products, silicone and sulfate free please, or homemade. Low poo, co poo, or no poo...we're open.
I'm looking for cleaning, conditioning, detangling, and curl keeping.
I would try tresemme naturals conditioner for Co washing and regular conditioner. Shea moisture products, and a gel to hold hair alcohol free like ecostyler or flaxseed gel. Stay away from silicones and sulfates if you want total moisture you do need to use a sulfate shampoo to strip the hair of silicones one last time before you use the conditioners

If she gets the sticky feel in her hair in addition to dryness it could be that her has low porosity ( do you know her hair properties?) , my daughter has the same kind of hair.
The best way for her is to do DT with heat so the conditioner can penetrate , I don't have a heat cap so we use a shower cap and over it a moist towel that I heat in the microwave and wrap it around her head for 1h. Tresemme works well and the GVP conditioner from Sallys . If her hair like curlkeeer for frizz control you can get the same effect with personal lubricant ( like KY jelly or store brand lube from CVS /Walmart ) but much cheaper, her hair did not like the polyquats in CK but the lube works well.
We keep products to a minimum to prevent the sticky hair, right now Shea moisture curling souffle works really well encouraging her curls, no leave in and maybe a little la looks over the Shea moisture.
V05 conditioner and Suave naturals ( not the coconut )work well for co wash and as a light leave in
Thank you both for the suggestions. We'll give these things a try.
