Hello all!! I'm very new to this so please hang in there with me and correct me if I am wrong!! My son is almost 2 1/2 with 3a and some 3b hair. He is biracial (black and white) but his hair is very soft and fine but has a lot of it lol. When you pull a strand in is about to the nape of neck. He hates the morning routine of fixing his unruly hair which is wet it, a little detangler and a few sprays of leave in conditioner spray topped off with mixed chicks leave in with a small amount of frizz zapper. (Maybe a little too much but I honestly don't know!!) sometimes it can leave his hair a little crunchy...but once he starts playing or takes a nap bam he's looking like Albert Einstein is this because of the length of his hair?? When it grows will in come down?? I love his curls and would like to let him wear it long while he is young but not sure how to mange it properly and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! And I apologize about the pic it's the only one I could find that showed how wild it can be

You should not need four products, just use enough of one or two. Would be worth checking all the ingredients of the products you are using, I wonder if there is a lot of silicones and little that will 'nourish' or 'moisturise' the hair. Sprays are not true conditioners, you would need a creamy product rich in fatty alcohols or cationic surfactants for that.

Is his hair actually knotting or matting up or just not smooth and able to run your fingers through it? Curly hair is not supposed to be tangle free at all times, it is the nature of the beast. Brushing and combing separates strands out into individual ones, in other words causes frizz. Just use your fingers to neaten do not separate the curls.

If it's knotting or matting get some silk or satin pillowcases/ bottom sheets or a sleep cap.

My son's hair looks a lot like your's! He is 17 months, and we have the exact same problem. We do not have a daily routine though. I generally wash once a week with babyganics shampoon (sulfate-free) and co-wash once a week. Then maybe on Day 3 after a wash I will spray with my homemade leave-in and perhaps top with a little coconut oil or shea moisture curl-enhancing smoothie, I'll also do this if we are going out and it's looking particularly crazy. But as you said, at it's current length, his hair is just wild when he wakes in the morning and after each nap.

I'm not sure there is a solution, but if there is, I'm willing to try lol.
