Curly 18 month old and straight mom

I have an 18 month old with fabulous ringlets, but my hair is straight and I don't know how to manage hers. I've attached some photos. Are these 3A curls? Is it usual for them to be flat on top and then curl? Or might (heaven forbid) her hair be changing? I wash her hair every 4 days or so when she gets dirty, and right now just spritz it with water and a smidge of lavendar to control it in the morning. But it gets pretty frizzy and messy by the end of the day. No tangles, though. Is it time to try products in her hair? Also, I want to let it grow long, but wonder if a cut might help shape things. Thanks for your opinions.

I trimmed my daughters hair just before we started CG and it has thickened up and grown loads now and we only started CG 2 weeks ago!

I think your daughter has the same kind of curls as mine by looking at it but yours has alot more hair and curls at the moment. My daughters hair only starts to curl at the bottom and before I cut it it was all ringlets but for the greater good I had to cut it to help it grow.

I refuse to use styling products on my child as I think they should get frizzy and messy because thats what kids do. However I used put a little leave in conditioner in her hair and that sorted out the frizz but since doing CG I dont need to as it isnt frizzy anymore but her curls do tent to fall out by the end off the day.

Do you use any conditioner on your daughter's hair? My daughter had similar hair at her age (it's curlier now). I started using Suave Naturals conditioner on her hair and it has helped cut down the frizzies. You can get it anywhere (I think it's less than a dollar at Wal-Mart) and it comes in several fragrances.

I had hair just like that at that age. My mom didn't know what to do with it either. Since I was her first and the only one to have curls she went to my grandma for help since my grandma has naturally curly hair.

I know she used just regular baby shampoo and conditioner for it. I'm sure if you make sure that it doesn't get washed all of the time and use conditioner to help it retain oils that would be the best bet.

I'm 25 now and I don't wash it everyday, but I do make sure that I condition it, otherwise it gets dry and fuzzy.

My 2 year old has EXACTLY the same hair, except its blonde. Its a little straighter on top. just like your little girls. Ive never cut bangs in her hair, but ironically, that is how her hair has grown in. The top around her face has taken alot longer to grow in, so it really looks like she has bangs! We just started doing Cg this past week. Her daycare teacher has already commented on how good my Jilly's hair looks lately!

my daughter has very very similar hair (color as well). when i started using product in her hair, it actually brought out the curl.
right now we use either california baby calming conditioner (as a leave in) combined with curl keeper or kinky curly knot today (as a leave in) w/ kinky curly curling custard for styling. both leave her hair shiny,soft, and less frizzy. i have pics of her hair in both my fotki and my blog.
