Good alternative to Mineraloil/petro

My sister is 5 y/o. She has long fine 2B-3B hair. My mom has been using Dudley (afro-american) line of products and almost every product contains mineral oil, petroleum, and lanolin. She uses the moisturizer and grease on my sister's hair. My sister's hair is responding by being dry and very tangled. My mom responds by adding more greasy products (it's a cycle). How can I convince my mom that these products are bad for any kind of hair and what can I use as an alternative leave-in moisturizer (I was considering Circle of Friends Maya Papaya, Curls moist curls, or tigi moisture maniac). My mom has been using these products for over 10 years and finds them as her holy grail , but I HATE them!
Dry, thick, coarse 3b hair LOVES BB Styling Lotion, JCS Nourish&Shine, Devacurl One C, Elucence MBC, BB Curl Cleansing Condish, Devacurl NoPoo, Honey, Water, and BB Natural Hair Oil.
i have blue magic but i didn't know they dry out my hair.. oh well i hardly use it. i'm not sure what's good and bad anymore..
I don't think you can convince her.I suggest clarifying her hair to get all that stuff out and I agree the Moisture Maniac or Maya Papaya would be good. THe MM will make her hiar easier to comb than the maya P. Also braid her hair before bed to cut down on the tangles. I hate the Curls line, so you'll get no love from me there...........

Maybe also try Paul Mitchell the conditioner.
Barely wavy mommy to a fine, silky with thready corkscrew 4 1/2yr old girl. HG's Moisture Maniac, PM The Conditioner, Cactus leave-in (original formula)"Mommy I want to look like a lion!" = hair loose and flowin'.
Thanx for the reply. I will definitely purchase MM this week, since tangles are a current problem.

African American-to be more specific, Black Native american, White and Creole.
3b,c and 4a hair
My mom has relaxed hair and they work fine on her hair, too. But it is a whole different story for my sister and my curly hair. Also it gives me bumps on my forehead and I have enough teen acne to worry about!

You might not be successful in convincing your mom to quit her staunch favorites, but I think it is a good idea that you are purchasing the Moisutre Maniac for your sister.

Maybe if you make a little gift pack of shampoo, conditioner and a leave in for your little sis, your mom might feel obligated to put the Dudley aside for a while. If they work out well for your sister's hair, who know, maybe your mom will leave the old stuff behind, at least for your sister.

Good luck, either way
That is a great idea! Can't wait to try that out. :P
