How many of you are mixed politically?
I cannot relate totally to either party. I am liberal on some issues and conservative on some.
I am liberal when it comes to providing legislation for equality between the sexes, racial equality, rights for homosexuals. I am liberal about there needs to be reform for health care...although the conservative side of me doesn't like all that passed as healthcare reform. I think insurance companies need to be held accountable in their services (not drop someone, not deny someone due to pre-existing conditions) only because that is really the only option people have in order to get good healthcare. (unless there is a public option, which I have mixed feelings about).
I am conservative in that I am not for gun control, I am for capital punishment (but only in strict cases), I am for making the environment cleaner (but deep down inside I'm not sure I am buying all the scare tactics from environmentalists...I recycle and I know theres more we can do...but I'm just not buying the whole story there). I am for fiscal conservatism (unfortunately, neither party is seriously fiscally conservative...but the Republican party surely wants to cut programs that help the disadvantaged...I differ with them in that we should continue to help the disadvantaged...I am not religious but I take seriously that we should love our neighbor and that charity (private and public through government) is what gives our country a soul.
There's probably more...but its lunch time and my brain is mush.
Anyone else can relate to being mixed politically? My intention isn't for us to argue whether someone's beliefs are right or wrong...but to just share how we can agree or disagree and therefore hold views that are from both parties.
