Because frequently Republican politicians are the ones painting themselves as people with "family values" or as "Christians" etc.. as in high and mighty, moral, and faultless. It amuses me when they literally get caught with their pants down (in public bathrooms, for example).
That's not to say that people of other political persuasions are immune to debased behavior, but you don't see them calling themselves the "moral majority" either.
