Bible Thread-- About Africans sons of Ham included Mizraim
The Biblical reference to Egypt is Mizraim [ one of the sons of Ham- - the ancestor of African people, also called Black people; from Genesis 10- (King James Bible)]. This is also taught in orthodox Jewish scripture]
So what is the big mystery about? Egypt is in Africa and during the times of early civilizations was eventually conquered by the Europeans when they began to establish their own territories, but it didn’t stop being Black. Just as Asia was conquered and occupied by the Brits, it didn’t stop being Asian.
As a white Canadian, I think that the reason why so many Black Africans get so invested in Egypt is that people give credit for it’s past greatness to Europe, but nobody gives credit for great Asian dynasties to Europe even though the British Monarchy held a presence there until just recently being voted out of power a few years ago. And some of it has to do with the fact that a modern day Egyptians are described as ‘mixed’ and many mixed Black people tend to adopt the cultures of their non-Black ancestors [ex: in Haiti, the Dominicans don’t call themselves black they say Hispanic although they are both and some Haitians now say ‘Haitian-Creole’ in deference to their French and Spanish heritage although many are both African and European.
I find it is a phenomenon occurring throughout Africa where the mixed Africans describe themselves as Arab or German or Creole, as opposed to saying mixed Black or mixed African… Does this occur in the states as well? In Canada, all of the mixed Black people I know say African-French or Afro-European if they are mixed and just Black if they’re not. They seem to be more adjusted in Canada or have a stronger tie to their respective African culture. Do Americans agree? Although mixed Jewish-Blacks seem to have a particularly difficult time being accepted as well as the mixed Arab-Blacks. Is this a middle-eastern thing? I hear the Black Isrealites have it pretty rough unless they are jewish on the maternal side and the Black Arabs have it rough as well unless they are Arab on the paternal side. Is this so?
From the Bible:
“6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim [i.e. Egypt], and Phut, and Canaan. 7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, 12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same [is] a great city. 13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, 14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.”
“15 And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, 16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, 17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, 18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. 19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. 20 These [are] the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, [and] in their nations.”
