This makes sense. I consider myself a liberal, but there are issues where I really disagree with my liberal bretheren, usually fiscal. Maybe I'm more of a Libertarian than I care to admit.

I don't have time to do this quiz now, but in one I took a while ago, I was defined as a "social libertarian" or some such thing. I am fiscally conservative, yet liberal on social issues. That makes me a tightwad humanitarian, I guess.

Love that phrase.

I can see the points in some fiscal conservatism. But, all too often, that has to come with the govtg telling what to do in reagrds to marriage, sex, and reproduction, and religion. I'd rather be left alone in those departments and often end up giving in on fiscal issues to preserve social freedoms.

Yep, I was just talking about this with a co-worker.

On a side note, this co-worker is younger than me, blonde, blue-eyed, and grew up in a upper/middle-class community in a D.C. suburb. I grew up in a single-parent home in a rust belt city in Ohio. I think it's wonderful that people from different backgrounds can share the same political views. That's why I like posting in these political threads....I enjoy reading the different ideas we all share - and have the freedom to express!
