There is nothing wrong with posting a link to a website that a member feels explains or supports her or his position. Doing so does not make someone a troll or a spammer.

Everyone is entitled to express opinions. Feel free to discuss and disagree, but please don't make it personal.

SuZenGuide, please scroll down (or up?) and read my post more carefully.

I was not complaining to AmandaCurls about posting a link, and I said nothing about her opinions, I was complaining that in addition to posting a link she later came back and posted four back-to-back posts of the entire contents of that link without any comment whatsoever. It was extremely spammerish.

I'm lazy too. A lot of times I won't click a link so I appreciate when someone copies and pastes.

So should I post the entire contents of that CNN transcripts page I linked?

I wonder why she was asking about banning books? Is it prejudicial to think that if she asked once that she might ask again?

Is it a good thing that people are talking more about Palin than McCain? It almost seems as if she is running for the top slot. I guess that was the reaction that they were going for, though.
I just read the interview with Gibson is going to be taped over a to day period then edited before release. Is this true? Why no live interviews?
It's times like this when I really miss Tim Russert. I would have loved to see all 4 candidates on "Meet the Press". I have a feeling the Gibson interview is going to be more of what we've heard already.

I miss him too. I agree Palin's interview with Gibson will be yet another tired repeat of her GOP convention speech. Yawn...

Honestly, while I hate that Sarah Palin is not yet speaking openly on her own, I figure she's getting groomed on the McCain platform and what she's allowed to say. There are probably some negotiations going on there, too. I know Edwards had to change how he presented things as a VP candidate - and that's fairly standard. The Presidential candidate is the one who sets the platform, and she and McCain have different stances in some areas.

I was more bothered last election by the fact Kerry had a non-stance on every issue. He actually removed all perceived "women's issues" from his platform but promised the women's organizations he'd put them back in if he was elected. Then wondered why Bush won the women's vote...

I am NOT a fan of Sarah Palin. I want Obama to win even more than I did before. I feel there is too much drama around this VP candidate, and in general if the drama is starting this early, it means there's a lot more to come. From reading questionnaires she filled out before and after her election as Governor, I dislike her stance on most issues.

For reference, I can no longer find the original questionnaire I read online. This blog references the no longer available questionnaire, which I didn't find elsewhere in a quick google. Note, I'm not saying I agree with any kind of bias in the blog, just that it shows a reference to the now missing link...

Also, whenever I see a news clip - she is at the podium with McCain in the background. If I just landed here I would think she was running for President and he was her husband standing in the background.

This is the Google cache of the original blog entry of the questionnaire, by Eagle Forum Alaska. You probably couldn't find it because the blog entry has been deleted.

Thanks!

I've seen some other questionnaires I can't find now, too. I think that's the best way to figure out her stance on different issues, since we aren't hearing it from her in interviews now...

Jeez, that's pretty extreme. I'd have to be a Nazi to do something like that.

So because she believes in creationism that automatically means she's going to push it in schools?

Don't people usually push for things they "believe in"?

You've talked about your experience walking down the aisle at Trinity United Church of Christ, and kneeling beneath the cross, having your sins redeemed, and submitting to God's will. Would you describe that as a conversion? Do you consider yourself born again?
I am a Christian, and I am a devout Christian. I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that that faith gives me a path to be cleansed of sin and have eternal life. But most importantly, I believe in the example that Jesus set by feeding the hungry and healing the sick and always prioritizing the least of these over the powerful. I didn't 'fall out in church' as they say, but there was a very strong awakening in me of the importance of these issues in my life. I didn't want to walk alone on this journey. Accepting Jesus Christ in my life has been a powerful guide for my conduct and my values and my ideals.
There is one thing that I want to mention that I think is important. Part of what we've been seeing during the course this campaign is some scurrilous e-mails that have been sent out, denying my faith, talking about me being a Muslim, suggesting that I got sworn in the U.S. Senate with a Quran in my hand or that I don't pledge allegiance to the flag. I think it's really important for your readers to know that I have been a member of the same church for almost 20 years, and I have never practiced Islam. I am respectful of the religion, but it's not my own. One of the things that's very important in this day and age is that we don't use religion as a political tool and certainly that we don't lie about religion as a way to score political points. I just thought it was important to get that in there to dispel rumors that have been over the Internet. We've done so repeatedly, but obviously it's a political tactic of somebody to try to provide this misinformation

I guess we will have a 'believing' leader no matter what.

Yeah, that's way Obama is strictly a "lesser of two evils" vote for me. I'm sick of the constant pandering to religious nutjobs.

He says he's devout...but I kinda don't believe him. I see him as a closet atheist...

I actually think that of most politicians (and pundits, for that matter). They have too much power and money and they know exactly who to pander to keep it that way. No way do these people believe even half the **** they spew.
