The whole white system is breaking down!!
IT's breaking down. QUICK! FIGHT FOR ALL that is WHITE AND PURE AND GOOD!!!!!
AHHHHH..... We're melting..... melting....

Sometimes, ya just gotta let people stew in their ignorance. The Natives knew far, FAR more about God than the white *cough* "christian" *cough* *cough* *Gag* settlers ever did.
But are the folks here going to see that?
of course not. And I don't like to waste my time.
.....melting.....
A Black President... Oh no!!!..... we're melting... melting....

Susan was being sarcastic. This is a very enlightening thread, I had no idea there was a conception of all Natives as harmonious peace-loving innocents and all European settlers as ragins, black-hearted murderers. Is there no perspective anymore??

I figured she was but my comment wasn't really directed to her more of the idea that some people do believe they were always peaceful. I just wanted to put that out for everyone
I'm not saying all European settlers were "black-hearted murders" but many were. They were driven by their greed, they did not care about the islands or the people already on living in this part of the world. On the islands were there were no gold (mainly what is now called the Antilles) the Europeans called them "useless islands."

I know you aren't even here anymore and won't read it, but I'm just going to stick your post in the place of somebody I spoke to (who pretty much said the same thing) and say...screw you, you f***ing a**hole.

Man I miss Yagotta
But really, precolumbian Native Americans did horribly cruel things to people, and sometimes wrecked the local environment. They were human, and unfortunately that's what humans do.
Also LOL at all this stuff about "LIEberals" and "revisionist history." It was really brave to try to sail around the world, and what Columbus did to the Native Americans he came in contact with was normal for his day, and unfortunately for our day as well. But treating him as a hero is revisionist.
And what's really revisionist is thinking that the precolumbian Native Americans were all hunter-gatherers. They lived in all different regions of two continents. They had all sorts of ways to survive. And peoples like the Mayans and Aztecs would have been covered by Columbus's ideas about civilization, except they weren't Christian.

Thank you.
The Europeans were SUPERIOR alright….they PERFECTED:
WAR – Starting with the Romans through to today’s illegal, criminal wars in the Middle East (also among each other – see inquisition, crusades, etc. etc.)
MURDER – Innocent people – native Americans, African Americans, etc. etc.
STEALING – natural resources that do not belong to them, ideas, people, etc. etc.
DISEASE – harvesting disease in their crowded European cities where they threw buckets of feces and urine onto the streets and then infecting the native Americans…in fact, deliberately giving the natives blankets infected with small-pox (BIOLOGICAL WARFARE), etc. etc.
SEXUAL PERVERSION – See Rome – all manner of perverse couplings….and before Rome – see the bible..it is chock-full of incest, homosexuality, murder, bestiality, pedophilia, etc.
RELIGION – Created a BS story so people could be enslaved, subjugated and stole the natural spirituality of innocent people in order to take their resources and lives
TRICKERY and DECEPTION – False-flag attacks, propaganda, hyper-nationalism, etc.
DESTRUCTION OF ECOLOGY – (not global warming – a natural occurring phenomenon) but the destruction of rivers, lakes, forests, animals, all that is good, all that is pure, for MONEY and POWER
Now that they’ve destroyed REAL KNOWLEDGE of the natives (plants – medicinal value) they want to go organic…LMAO!!! Now that the world is turned to ISH they want to go “green”… LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were superior alright…SUPERIOR DEVILS.

Do I think horrible things have been done in this country and in every other country throughout history? Yes. Do I hate and blame Columbus for all that has gone bad in the world since he got here? Of course not. Do I think he was a man hired to do a job who did it to the best of his abilities? Yep. In the end, do I think the 'discovery' of America is worthy of a holiday? Sure

Have horrible things been done and continue to be done in this country? Yes. Is this the most powerful nation on earth at this time? Yes. Do I hate and blame Columbus for all that has gone bad in the world since he got here? Of course not...he had many, many cohorts. But he sure as he ll did a GREAT DEAL of DAMAGE by taking on that job and leading the way. Again, he was just ONE thug among MANY. But responsible for his part nevertheless. And you're right, he sure did his job to the best of his ability - killed natives, brought slaves, pillaged natural resources, appropriated land that wasn't his to take, allowed missionaries to feed bogus religion to the so called heathens so they would be submissive servants and turn the other cheek, sent profits and goods back to Europe to supply the European gentry with native goods worked by african men, women and children, and finally left those so called third world countries with the legacy of corrupt politics.
Quick tidbit here...what is now called America was inhabited by people for thousands of years before Columbus and his ilk arrived with their guns, germs, and deadly steel. And their undefatigable, unabating GREED. So, sorry, no discovery to speak of....unless you're just speaking from a European perspective, which of course, is the status quo. :-)

I think it's fine to celebrate the holiday if you want, but I think we should call it what it was...America was conquered. To say it was discovered is disingenuous.

Which is why I put 'discovery' in quotes.
I don't celebrate Columbus Day, but if others want to, fine by me. Oh wait, I do go to a Columbus Day spaghetti dinner at a local catholic church. So I guess I celebrate the discovery of America by eating. Which is how I celebrate everything.
