It's hard to believe that after all these years the hatred just continues. I wish racism would die off, but I don't have a great deal of hope for it. Racists tend to "try" to raise racist children - sometimes the kids escape the hate, but all too often they don't. Racism is really just a sad and destructive illness. Too bad there aren't any meds available to cure it. Unfortunately, based on these video clips, the demand would most likely exceed the supply .

I know. It's unbelievable, isn't it.
How humiliating to think we'll be part of some history book, hundreds of years from now....
Schoolchildren all across America.. "OMG! Zorn. Can you like believe our ancestors cared about skin color? That is INSANE! What a buncha morons. Why did it take them so long to figure that one out? duh."
(I'm not sure why I picked the name "zorn", I just thought maybe people would finally get sick of all the names we have now.)
edited to add: ok, I just realized Jim ZORN is the coach of the Washington Redskins. "Zorn" must have leaked into my subconscious, somehow.

Sometimes I read stuff that leaves me agape.
It is historically a racial slur and quite frankly, it isn't up to you to decide it isn't.

I heard all three versions growing up. What's worse is that I never connected monkey and n***** from that, and had to learn that later.
I was an adult before I knew the origins behind "cracker" too. I had thought it dealt with saltine crackers being pasty and pale. Durrr.....

We used tiger also, but I did hear the n-word version when I was a kid.

Absolutely!
And if it wasn't offensive, why would the guy take off the Obama sticker after he realized that the cameras were on him? Before that, it was all good.

Me neither. We used tiger. I used to wonder why a tiger because it didn't make sense but never made a connection to it being a racial slur until I was an adult.

I did a bit of research on the eeny meeny etc. There had been many versions (including "tiger") before the n-word version, which suggest that n*gger was added , (most likley in America) for sh*ts and giggles.
I'm not sure which is worst. N-word being original, or some a$$ changing it up.

How is tiger a racial slur? I've honestly never heard of another version besides the one we used:
Eeeny meenie, miney mo
Catch a tiger by it's toe
If he hollers, make him pay
Fifty dollars every day
My momma told me to pick the very best one and you are not it.

Tiger is not - according to wiki it started out being tiger and then the "controversial" racist version was made afterwards.

Sorry I wasn't clear. What I meant was, I didn't know tiger was put in place of a racial slur. I used to think why tiger and not bear or hell, even monkey since I didn't know back then that even that was wrong. At that I used to think why would a tiger holler? Still I didn't make a connection. I was 7-8 and our neighborhood had all sorts of minorities but none of us kids knew it as anything but tiger.
We used catch a tiger by the toe, if he hollers let him go.

I always thought growing up that it was supposed to be tiger and some a-wad changed it to be funny.
Never liked that version anyway.

I think it was the case. I'm thinking the monkey replaced the n-word.
The ifrst time I ever heard the n-word version, I was about 6 and i heard a girl singing it at K-mart. I remember thinking "well. THAT song is ruined for me now"
