I just heard Gov. Palin talking live, one-to-one with an Atlanta radio host, totally off-the-cuff with no script, and she did fine.

As for Levi, surely he'll at least get his GED even if he didn't/doesn't finish high school. I personally am all for higher education just for the sake of education. As for employment, however, in small towns and more rural areas degreed jobs can be few and far between. There's usually more real, non-degreed job opportunity, though not necessarily "blue collar", per se. I'd think this would be especially true in most of Alaska.

Maybe she's not comfortable getting grilled by hostile "journalists." Obama doesn't do so well when he doesn't have a teleprompter either.

Why some people equate public speaking and TV "presence" to intelligence and leadership is beyond me.

Eloquence is not equal to intelligence. Of course liberals can't view Palin as evil (except for maybe the animal rights crowd) so in their world view, the only option is to label her as stupid.

I've heard her come across well in a couple of radio interviews. I think I posted about that here - she only used the word maverick one time.

Ohh, Ohh, I know!! She was a journalism/communications major!!!

If she doesn't like being "grilled" by "hostile" journalists (because Katie Couric is such a tiger, grrr!!) then she shouldn't be vying for such a high profile, high pressure position in the United States Government.

Obama may stumble a bit in unscripted speech, but the thoughts behind his statements are still sound, and coherent. Palin's are not. Period. And as someone who has a (albeit crackerjack box) degree in jounalism and some working experience in broadcasting, she should know much better than she obviously does how to speak in interviews, and how not to get ruffled by them. That she's so abysmal in press interviews rather than competent in something that has to do with her supposed previous profession speaks volumes about just how truly inept she must be.

As for Levi, blue collar work that has some danger to it often pays extremely well, diploma or not. Pipeline work and fishing are both relatively dangerous - more so than plumbing, anyway. (No offense to plumbers. ) Combine that with family pull and small town everybody-knows-everybody connections and he may well not need a diploma, as long as he stays healthy and in Alaska.

And I doubt that tattoo will last long. Between lasers and the fact that tattoos on fingers fade and fuzz out quickly because of the thin skin and constant movement of fingers (why many reputable tat artists won't do them), I predict that thing will be gone right around the time that Levi, or Bristol, or both of them figure out there's not much difference between lust and young love - or that neither usually lasts. If they do go ahead with the marriage they'll have another kid or two before they're twenty, and then they'll probably be done with each other.
Well she still hasn't made it to a Sunday morning talk show, but she and McCain will sit down with Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News this coming week. They'll be together and to be fair, I never questioned why she didn't sit down for a solo live interview. Though McCain, Obama, and Biden have had extensive solo live interviews, we as the American public should have no expectation that she'd do the same. They're interviewing as a team because they'll be serving as a team, right?

Oh no! Now what?!? Maybe a talent show. Palin can dance, Biden can sing, McCain can shoot bows and arrows, and Obama can lift weights.
That'll be fun!
