Default Colin Powell endorses Obama

On MTP, this morning, Powell strongly endorsed Obama for Prez. Awesome!!!!!

He gave an intelligent list of reasons, too.

Good.

I'm not that surprised. He has always seemed to be very intelligent and as if he had a lot of integrity. I think his role w/in the Bush Presidency was a mistake, but he thought he could make a difference and possibly have a future career there. The way he left, I felt as if he was expressing his disapproval and that he felt things were WRONG but wasn't able to proclaim that more loudly simply due to his position.

A Republican former cabinet member endorsing a Democratic Presidential candidate is pretty radical, I hope you all realize. Hurray for Colin - I've always respected him. And I don't think his role with Bush was a mistake. Even though he was muscled out by Rumsfeld and Rove, things could have been worse if he hadn't been there.

Hopefully, Republicans will take notice that their party is going down the crapper.

Wow, what a shocker!

I'm surprised it took this long. Most thinking Republicans aren't surprised given Powell's liberal positions on affirmative action, welfare programs and abortion, to name a few. Perhaps he's hoping for a spot in the Obama administration.

I think he ought to end the charade and re-register as a Democrat.

I don't think it's too much as a surpirse. He's been pretty open about how he has been dissatisfied with the right-shift in the Republican party over the last decade or so.

Regardless, I think that any candidate should be proud of an endorsement by such a respectable man.

When Powell talked about the 20 year old soldier who died in Iraq on whose headstone was a crescent and a star, that really touched me. "What's wrong with being a Muslim?" he asked. You can be muslim and American.

I'm glad he'll be advising Obama.

I missed it on TV but I'm really glad he stood up for Muslim-Americans. It warms the heart, especially after all the "I'm not gonna vote for Obama because he's Arab" racism going around.

It is so thrilling. I wasn't sure what he would do but when he started criticizing McCain as he discussed his endorsement and it was clear he was going to endorse Obama, I smiled and clapped. I felt so good and excited. His speech was so clear and right. I really liked what he said.

When he talked about this, I was weeping and yelling at the TV - YES, YES, YES! My kids thought I was CRAZY! I've been feeling this way since that incident with the woman who thought Obama was an Arab. And if he was???

I lurve me some Colin Powell.

That is a gripping picture. What gets me is that he was two years younger than me. My birth year registers with me like 'someone born around then is young', and yet we have soldiers out there dying that are younger than that, so it's personally sobering to reflect on.
