Medical Records

There was a petition signed by 3,000 doctors, many of them prominant doctors, asking for REAL medical records from McCain. He hasn't satisfied them that he is healthy enough for office either:

See, I'm not so sure about this. I really feel like your medical records should be private, even for the POTUS. They should submit to a physical and be given a clean bill of health, but beyond that, I just don't think its our business.

DH was telling me that Sarah Palin hasn't released her medical records. I'm sympathetic as a woman. I wouldn't want all the details of my pregnancies and girlie issues all out there in the public.

I do think that McCain's health problems are a big issue and should be talked about more in the media. I like the idea of a doctor (or panel of doctors) giving him a clean bill of health, or no bill of health. Same with the other candidates--Biden's pretty old and Obama and Palin could have a life threatening disease. We just don't know.
Honestly, I'm all for everyday citizens' medical records being private, but when you put yourself out there for office, you need to be willing to put it ALL on the line. As demonstrated by the Lewinsky issues of Clinton's presidency, there is NOTHING personal once you reach the presidential office, so candidates should be MORE than willing to lay it all out there. No secrets. I'm sorry but a potential President (not that I think McCain has ANY potential) shouldn't hide ANYTHING. If he's got stuff to hide, then he should go into hiding; get out of the spotlight, and give us a new candidate that won't threaten us with death early into the presidency, and an incompetent, intolerant replacement.

Ugh, I'm sorry but I'm just TIRED of this election. All the "fun" new technicalities that Palin and McCain have created, placing preconditions on media coverage of interviews, putting a time limit on the examination of medical records... ugh its ridiculous. Give me a break! These people clearly can't be trusted, someone PLEASE tell me WHY there's still the possibility of their election into office!!!

Btw- Maybe that growth on McCain's face grows like Pinocchio's nose: it grows every time he lies!!!

Then, based on that information, I could make an informed decision about a candidate.

I said somewhere else, my belief is that McCain doesn't want his records out b/c it would show how bad his PTSD really is. And yes, I do worry about the person having the authority to start a nuclear war while dealing with mental issues, especially when those issues were caused by another war. Not a good combination.

Look at all of our current soldiers, coming back home from Iraq. They haven't endured 5 1/2 years of being held prisoner and many of them are having issues.

So, to me, he's either lying about how tough it was there or he's lying about his mental state. My money is on the mental state issue.

As for PTSD, maybe he has it, maybe he doesn't. He's been in the public eye for many many years and isn't exactly a hermit. His personality is well known. I don't need a formal diagnosis of anything to tell me that he's a mean, erratic guy.

All this secrecy seems indicative of something bad, don't you agree?

PTSD is an anxiety disorder, its not really related to his bad personality. I think that McCain's nastiness is entirely related to his drive to win at all costs. IMO McCain is bothered by the fact that 1) Republicans are in pretty bad standing with the rest of the country right now, 2) Obama is young, very liberal, and has remained calm through all of McCain's smear campaigning, and is STILL ahead of him; and 3) McCain's "ace in the hole" turned out to be a giant, gaping void (Palin).
