Very interesting, I was thinking the same thing when I heard her comments about wanting to ban gay marriage on a federal level instead of leaving it up to the states.

She knows it's a long shot that she and McCain will win. She will make sure that she makes a big enough impression on the evangelical and strict conservatives and try running again. She may not set her sights on POTUS or VP but start at the Senate or House of Reps. where she can try and push her set of values.

I'm not surprised since they are so unbelievably different. McCain is a more hawkish democrat. And Palin is a straight up and down conservative. She is probably vying for President in 2012. Key political players were already sketching out these plans before she became governor. I don't see her going to Washington for anything else considering how she prefers to live on the political fringes in Alaska.

Personally, I don't think Palin will go all that far. Her main appeal is sexual...to men mostly. At age 44, this is her year. If she doesn't make it big now, she doesn't have enough time to go through the normal route of climbing the ranks and still be attractive. It's a short journey from MILF to boner-shrinker.

Yeah the federal amendment makes no sense at all. Especially to the principle of conservatism. Isn't Dick Cheney even in agreement that it should be left to the states.

I'm not even trying to be funny (although I like to be funny...and I like to booze it up too ). I'm totally serious on this one...Palin is playing on her looks and perceived sexuality. There aren't many good-looking women in politics, and their beauty window is smaller than Hollywood beauties, because politicians have to have experience to be taken seriously, and that takes time...and we know how people don't like time on a woman. Palin has a few more years before she's on the same level as Hillary Clinton (I stole the boner-shrinker line from SNL, who used it on Hillary). Palin needs to be more than attractive to get farther in politics, which means she needs to come more to the middle, and that will go against her severe right-leanings, so I don't see much of a future for her. She could become another Ann Coulter, but Palin doesn't have the unscripted gift-of-gab that Coulter has, so I don't see her in that role either.

Equating to terrorism and saying it's all about sex appeal for Palin is a little too extreme for me. I'm not voting for McCain and Palin, but I have to defend her on that one. There are many older women who are in politics. Palin could still have a future, although I'm not too thrilled about that on a personal level.
For anyone who has ever had a loved one who was a victim of terrorism (fortunately not me, but I know someone who has), I think they would find you equating their pro-life (anti-abortion) and anti-gay marriage views with terrorism as extreme. With that said, I am pro-choice and I think it would be great if everyone had the right to marry the person they love and want to spend the rest of their lives with. I am not pro-Palin and I am not in agreement with her views, but I do find the criticisms of her to be too extreme at times.

Now, back to the OP.

I thought Palin was running a dirtier campaign than McCain, then I hear that she is criticizing McCain's campaign as being dirtier. I'm missing something there.
She might be distancing herself in order to further her own agenda, but I can't see how people cannot see through this. How can she criticize the very thing she is even more guilty of doing and not come across as a total liar?

And off OP but related, how does McCain criticize Obama for running negative campaigns when Obama never questioned McCain's moral character but McCain has of Obama. Sure both are going to make the other candidate look bad, but I haven't heard Obama tear down McCain like McCain (and especially Palin) has of Obama.

Maybe Palin can get the RNC to fund her plastic surgery, Botox and fillers so she can maintain the MILF illusion. Hey, if the RNC is willing to shell out $100K+ for clothes, surely there's room in the budget for a little maintenance.
