And also, when the runaway bride blamed a Hispanic man (and a white woman) for her disappearance. Why the imaginary minority suspects?
To be fair, the DC snipers were initially suspected to be white and I think there was some surprise over the Asian man at Virginia Tech. Every population segment has a "bad" side.
As someone who is married to a "big black man" it certainly doesn't help when someone perpetuates the stereotype that big + black + male=scary/criminal.

One of the sweetest people I know is a big black man, and it pisses me off that anyone would write him off as scary for any reason. It doesn't surprise me, though, that a young white Republican woman in Texas would fabricate a big black man as her assailant. Frankly, it would have surprised me if she'd faked any other minority.

Yup, pisses me off too. My husband is a sweet, generous and patient gentleman (and a former college linebacker), but I know people who don't know him at all will take one look and him and jump to conclusions on his appearance alone. When stuff like this comes out, it just perpetuates the myth.
Not that anything she did was right in this entire "crime" but the description of the "assailant" is just another thing that makes me go:

The mother who pushed her car into the lake with her kids in it - she also say it was done by blacks, right? She was from Texas too if I recall.
And there was a husband in Boston who killed his wife and shot himself in the leg - he came up with the 'big black man' story too.
If you are going to lie/kill, etc - leave someone elses race out of your lies.

It's easy to have someone hit you in the eye to give you a black eye. But this is kind of a moot point when you think about it since you have to consider how many levels of CRAZY this person must be to be able to carve a backwards B in her own face. If you can knife your own face to carve a backwards B into it, then bruising your own eye, or getting someone equally sick to do it for you must be a cinch!

My first reaction to the original story was OMG, this election has gone out of control. My second reaction was, that's kind of a strange "carving" on her face, looks more like a scrap event, but if she says it's been "carved" into her face who am I to question. Now it turns out to be a hoax. To blame a "big black man" for an attack that never happened only supports my claim that in this election many voters will have to decide if they are more of a racist or a sexiest. This makes me want to vomit. If you want to commit a crime of violence feel free to blame a tiny white woman with curly hair, I won't mind.

After reading her Myspace page and Myspace Blog, it's clear she has many issues. I think Americans are divided enough by this election. We don't need more of this racist bs. I'm sure I've mentioned it here before but my boss is one of these people who honestly believes Blacks will break any and every law they can think of if Obama wins. He says that Obama is going to empty the jails of ALL AAs just because he's a "brotha" and will that he will try to get more white folks in jail as revenge for all the blacks in jail. Lunacy I know. I don't even bother engaging him anymore. He's old and forgets stuff, I hope he forgets to vote on the 4th.

Pardon my censored French here, but your boss is an idiotic, ignorant ****head. What a raging lunatic. Let your boss know that Obama's BIRACIAL first of all. (That blanket labeling people do here, so annoys me.) Obama's just as much "caucasian" as he is "african". That's the first thing. And he was raised, loved, and adored by his amazing family, who happens to be "white".
Second, let your boss know that many people overseas think that same way about him...and about Americans as a whole. I've lived in Germany and in France and in both countries, they make no distinction between a "white" american or a "black american. Both of our asses are considered one of those "mixed americans" or "métisses" (someone multi-ethnic/racial).
(And unless you're a recent immigrant to the US EVERYONE here is multi-racial/ethnic, anyway, so this false, hypocritical obsession people have here of "race" and "racial purity" is just beyond me and makes other countries laugh at us.)
Both of us are equal in their eyes, and especially since we're multi-racial here people think of me the same way they think of your boss, the same way they think of my granny (she's Irish), the same way they think of my mother( East Asian/African-American). They make no distinction and see us equally.
Maybe dumb ass boss needs a wakeup call to see he's not as "lily white" as he seems to think. Let someone in Europe let his ass know what's up. My best friend from Germany would do it with great pleasure.
People like him give Americans the world over a really bad name/reputation. That so infuriates me.

It pisses me off too. I've asked him how his view of other could be so racist, knowing that 6 million of his people died because of someone elses racist views?
Believe me, I've tried. He's in his 70's so I'm sure he's not going to change his view. He will sit there and say I'm not like other single Latina moms just because I'm not sitting home on welfare. The Blacks that work in our company are the exception to the rule of all blacks being bad. Same for any other minority. The Arabs not terrorist. The Mexicans are not illegal.(actually they are not) but you see what I mean. It's like the all the minorities he knows are the exception to all the racist views he has of our different races.
