palin in pink

After the whole wardrobe scandal blew over, Palin started wearing her own clothes in a fit of independence ... and I can't help but notice that her own clothes are PINK!

Personally I think the gray and black and white suits that they bought for her looked much better ... much more professional and befitting to a vice-presidential candidate. No wonder they tried to give her a makeover!

Not that it makes a difference of course.

any thoughts?
That was $150K well spent.

Well...I have to say I prefer her pink jackets. She looks good in them. Not sure they're "presidential" though. I'm not "up" on that sort of fashion ruling.
Hmm, I will admit that she looks cute in pink, but if I were running for VP I wouldn't want to be giving off a vibe of cuteness!

I would want to give off a vibe of intelligence and independence and leadership! Black seems a universal wardrobe symbol of independence and leadership. Charcoal gray gives me a similar vibe... especially that slightly shiny charcoal gray blazer she used to wear. And I like the white for stark contrast... I think that gives off a vibe of decisiveness when combined with black or dark gray.

Let's face it...she can't do anything right. Hillary was wearing colors on the campaign trail..it's okay for the Dem but not the Repub?

Sheesh!

Clothes were returned and donated...for what it's worth, the pink jacket was consignment shop and originally VERY expensive. And the little dress that Piper has on?

Walmart - $12.96...have the same thing in pink for my daughter.

I think she looks great!
Well now that you mention it, I didn't like Hillary's blue blazer.

Not that any of this matters of course. Clothes don't influence my voting decision, and I don't expect clothes to influence the voting decision of any reasonably intelligent person. I'm just sayin' ... for the sake of those less intelligent voters who *might* indeed be swayed by color choices, a candidate should give off a presidential vibe!

and also let me clarify, I am more concerned with the color than the price tag! I think she looked better in the stuff they bought for her, not because of the price tag but because whoever did her shopping for her has a more presidential color sense than she does.

just in case that wasn't clear!
I can't look at something and tell if it's expensive or not. I've never had issues with her clothes or the way they look. She's an attractive woman with nice clothes. I can't tell - quality or style wise - the difference between the pink jacket or what she wore to accept the nomination. Some of my favorite clothes came from consignment stores. The big glass vase in my hallway came from Goodwill for a dollar so who would I ever be to talk about someone else's shopping choices? I don't care what color the candidate wears or doesn't wear. I don't care if she wears suits, dresses or pants. For me, it wasn't the clothes she wore or where they came from, it was the hypocrisy.
I think it was a 100% good decision to give her a makeover and when you need a killer suit in a hurry the thrift store and consignment store is unfortunately not the right place to get it. I love thrift stores and consignment stores too - I buy all my clothes there - except if I have a big interview coming up in a few days and I need a suit that fits perfectly and looks awesome and professional. Then you have no choice but to shop at retail stores because they have all the choices and sizes. It might cost 20-30 times more, but the time constraint makes it necessary.

So if I had donated to the GOP (I didn't but if I had) I would be glad that they chose to spend my money in that way because she desperately needed a makeover and had terrible color sense before the makeover. For a while there, I thought she looked really professional and awesome. Now she is back to looking "cute," unfortunately. The cuteness can definitely undermine a woman's hard efforts to get respect.

I have to say, this really is pretty petty.

I'm not a fan of Palin's policy, but wtf cares what she is wearing. To judge her based on her wardrobe, now THAT sets back male/female equality quite a bit.

How freaking superficial can you get?

So no, I don't think it has anything to do with male/female equality. It's just the simple fact that pink does not have a connotation of leadership and respect.

As her unofficial "campaign manager" I say, leave no rock unturned when you're trying to get respect! My vote was not influenced at all by the wardrobe choices ... I always read about the issues and decide based on what's important to me (in this case, national debt and the Iraq war). But some people out there - the ones who are less certain in their decision and less likely to read - could easily be swayed by pink and its connotations of SNL skits and cuteness.

Okay, I know it's a refusal to understand and not just straight misunderstanding, but I'm going to give it a shot: It doesn't matter what she paid for that consignment shop purchase because she used her money to do it.
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.
