I laughed hysterically when I saw Jesse Jackson crying. Isn't this the same guy who threatened to rip Obama's n*ts off? It was ironic. I also thought Oprah looked like a cute little girl crying, even though I'm not a huge fan of hers.

My thoughts too. I was impressed by both candidates' speeches tonight, they showed honor and respect.

Ya'll I've been crying since yesterday...when I realized that OBAMA might actually win this election. You know as a kid, when people tell kids they can be anything in the world, including the president, I never really believed them when they would tell me that. Now, I look at my 7 year old nephew, and when people tell him that he can be the president of the United States, I know that he DOES believe it!!! I remember my mother taking me and my sister with her when she would work the polls and vote, and now, my sister took my nephew and niece (7 and 2) and its soooo inspirational to see my 2 year old niece yelling "YES WE CAN".

*sorry I'm rambling here but i'm a bundle of emotions and I need to put them down somewhere*

While I didn't laugh, I did kinda snort. But even in his hypocrisy(and jealousy, because he WAS jealous of Obama's success), he can see the gravity of this event. As someone whom was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and marched with MLK Jr., this is HUGE not only to him, but to those whom witnessed and lived through the movement.

You're not rambling. I'm so with you. His victory truly does show that anything is possible.

wow. just wow.

in his acceptance speech, he name-checked my grandmother's best friend--the 106-year-old woman. it's surreal. my grandmother would have been 100 this year. i think it would have blown her mind to see this black man elected--and then to hear him honoring her running buddy.

wow.

An incredible moment in our nation's history. I cherished every second of the process from the run up in the last days, to the experience of voting with historic turnouts, to connecting with friends and family today.

McCain's speech was certainly gracious and Obama's speech struck exactly the right note. He faces a very difficult path, but seems to have the maturity and smarts for it. Also, seems like he has a real shot at restoring our reputation with other nations and extricating ourselves from the mess in iraq. At least, I hope so.

I'm choking up again. I kept getting it together and tearing up again, especially when he mentioned his grandmother not being there to see it. I was getting so emotional listening to his speech anyway, it felt like the kind of beautiful thing that happens in the movies, but it was really real.

As a side note, I saw the OMG!!! thread and immediately knew what it was about.

I woke up smiling. I'm still in awe. Obama's acceptance speech gave me chills. When all of the Obama and Biden families came out at the end I started crying all over again. It was just a beautiful sight.

I love watching him and Michelle together. You can just see that they have so much love and respect for each other. They make an awesome team. Michelle is going to be a great First Lady.

I think Obama is a true family man. And Michelle seems very humble. And Obama is a great speaker. Time will tell if he is full of hot air.

Usually when there are multiple threads on the same topic, one gets very few replies while the other gets many more. Not in this case...We're all so excited!

Never have I been so enthralled with an election. Both men's speeches were fantastic and patriotic and everything they should have been. I'm an avid Obama supporter, but honestly, I respect McCain even though I don't agree with all his views. However, I was appalled at those who boo-ed while he was trying to give his speech. Seriously. It was like a high school pep rally.

Obama captivated me. I so truly hope he turns out to be all that appears, as it will break my heart if he isn't. I've never felt so inspired by a speech before. There is so much hope for our nation!

And whether "your" candidate won or lost last night, I think most of us can agree that ANYTHING is better than Bush. God bless America!

This is exactly the good I think will come out of this. I don't think the country or the world will change, but people's lives will. I think you can accomplish so much more when you believe the odds aren't completely stacked against you.

And ITA that it was really lame for McCain supporters to boo him. WTF? You don't boo your own team!
