I work in a theatre conservatory in a university in Chicago.

It's a triple-whammy of Obamania.

I haven't heard anyone in my office openly admit supporting McCain, although not everyone is pro-Obama. For the most part, however, we supported Obama, in varying degrees.

I have always worked in liberal environments that included a few very vocal conservatives. Now that I telecommute, I don't have many political discussions with co-workers. But I did speak with my boss a few days before the election. We agreed there was no way we'd ever vote for the McCain-Palin ticket.

My family is another matter. I rarely discuss politics with most of my relatives because we are polar opposites!

I have two offices. In one office, my coworkers (the vocal ones at least) voted for Obama, so that was fine. But in my other office, it's a mix...I haven't been to that office since Tuesday (before the election results) so I don't know how well that went.

There's only 5 people in my office, including me. Two of those people are fairly well-off - the owners (two CPAs). One has only been a partner for a few years and the other has built the business up for over 30 years.

I work in accounting, with small businesses. I think it's probably obvious which way my industry leans.

Most of our clients are conservative too. There's been a slight freak-out since Wednesday of people (mostly business owners but some just upper tax bracket individuals) wanting to find out how they can avoid paying way higher taxes under Obama. Already talk of layoffs and reduction in hours, from the small business owners, if the tax plans he has proposed actually get passed. Lots of these people are already struggling as it is. Who knows. I guess we'll see what happens.

Is your workplace mostly Obama supporters or McCain supporters or do you even know?

Just curious.
Ran into it in 2004 and it got pretty ugly. One of the attorneys and another assistant made it a rather hostile workplace...looking back it was very nasty atmosphere there...I didn't say much as she did have the managing partner's ear. But she knew that I didn't like Kerry (think she read my bumper sticker and no, I didn't have a Bush/Cheney sticker...at that time). But it was like this time, neither the atty or assistant could give me a reason to vote for Kerry, other than that he wasn't Bush...oh yeah, the attorney did say that she couldn't vote for someone who didn't speak well...WHAT??? Explain that one to me, please. I completely lost all respect for her as a person then...she's a highly educated, successful woman and she can't articulate why she likes her candidate? The assistant told me what a lot of Obama supporters did, which was "go to his website". I did that BOTH times, more than once and still could not find any articulation of what they would do differently, just what the other guy was doing wrong.

Now I am in small branch office--just been me for the past 5 months, so I've been in agreement with me ;D, but I've learned over the last few weeks that a number of folks in at least two of our other branches think the same way that I do...our company is under 1000 people and we are all a little leery of what is coming after the first of the year. If the company gets hit with the tax increases that have been proposed, if they do not close our office, they will be downsizing it (which means back to my boss' basement) and no telling what else.
