Default He got what he wanted, does he ever stop the whining?

Last week, Obama told one friend that he felt "a little boxed in."

>snip>

Obama already has learned that his mundane routine will be difficult to replicate as president, but his friends say that establishing some kind of similar comfort zone is critical to his success in Washington. They consider it one of the most pressing -- and most challenging -- issues of Obama's transition: How can he create a life as president that keeps him happy?

Lord, he NEVER stops the whining, neither he nor Michelle. He had to give up his blackberry, he whines over a lack of privacy, he whines when someone asks him a direct question (can't I just finish my waffle?). She whined about paying back student loans to an Ivy League college that many Americans would give up everything to get in to, she whined over spending $10K on summer activity to their kids when other people can't afford that in a lifetime.............

And we've got FOUR MORE YEARS of this.

WOW! You are one angry person. It is going to be a long four years for you, huh?

Well, I guess that since Ann Coulter's jaw is wired shut, someone has to pick up the slack.

Welcome to the losing side. For those of us on the losing side when Bush won, it was a P-A-I-N-F-U-L eight years, watching the village idiot bumbling through every speech and appearance. I don't know if Bush actually whined or not, because it was so unbearably painful to watch him, that I couldn't take more than a minute before changing the channel.

So, there there, dear. You'll get through it. Turn on Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity and drown your sorrows in their anger and hate. It'll make you feel better.

The rest of us have lives to be getting on with.

Too funny.

What is it about politics that makes adults start acting like a bunch of catty teenagers? Good grief. Out of 12 posts, about 3 of them sound like they were typed by a rational adult. The nastiness factor in here is off the charts.

Let the flames begin....

Thanks, I consider that a compliment.;D

Sorry I forgot the link earlier, we were getting ready to leave.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...02505_pf.htmlv

And no, not angry, more incredulous that EVERYTHING he does is reported on by the media in a pitying fashion.

Did he think that when he was elected president, he would be able to continue in his perfect life where he could do and say anything he wanted to? He has complained about giving up his blackberry...the things have GPS in them...and given that the loonies are out with more death threats than any president before (although it's going some to outdo the ones that Bush has received), some of them are actually credible towards Obama, yet he whines about giving it up? Security anyone? My 17YO whines when her cell phone isn't working for some reason, she forgets it, a tower is out of whack or whatever. But I expect the future POTUS act with a little more dignity and maturity.

Leader of the Free World is not a position to take lightly...one needs to be fully informed (well, as much as possible) before going in and not expect the government to change the way it works because of you. Realize that YOUR life has to change. Clinton expected things to revolve around his wants and desires and was delighted when he could find a way to slip past his security detail, etc. He never considered how much more difficult he was making their work, and if they were to fail and something horrid were to happen...the responsibility for it would have fallen on them...the condemnation of an entire nation and an entire world.

And it will be a LOT harder if anything were to happen to Obama. The agents that were on Reagan's detail the day he was shot have told stories of their personal nightmares, PTSD, etc since they couldn't protect him and he was shot. And you still hear stories of the agents for JFK, RFK, etc., what they went through...and I imagine it would be so much worse if you were on the detail of the first biracial POTUS and he was shot and/or killed...it would be absolutely horrifying. These men and women put their lives on the line on a daily basis and are expected/expect to take a bullet for him...and he's unhappy because he can't have his blackberry and he has to have an escort and an armored vehicle. I'm sure that his neighbors are thrilled by it all.

Why are he and his family getting such a pitying story from the Washington Post about moving to a town they don't like...few weeks ago Cindy McCain was basically called an anti-social, snobby, stone cold, drug addled ***** because she wanted to raise her family in a more normal environment? It's only 8 years....not a lifetime. If half the nation gets its wish, it will only be 4.

And the White House residential apartment is a sterile house? The President and First Lady have already welcomed them to it so they can see what they'll want/need to consider, the girls were brought in so they could see "their" rooms and what they wanted. By the time they actually move in, everything they want to bring from Chicago to live with will be moved in and arranged for them (man, I'd LOVE to make a move like that!)

<snip>

"How can he create a life as president that keeps him happy?"

>snip< That pursuit of happiness thing that is in the Constitution? We can pursue it, it is not guaranteed. I thought the POTUS was elected by the people for service...his job is to make US happy, or he gets fired...simple as that. Politicians are public servants...and unless I missed it in the volumes of transcripts of his speeches that I read (don't worry, I read transcripts of McCain's also...a good speaker can get you so wound up that you miss the words that are said, so I like to read them, make notes and go back over them again and get the context, etc.), he didn't say much about 'service'. I didn't see the humility and humbleness that goes along with service and a servant's heart...I did see a lot of complaining.

And since that same Constitution allows me to say what I choose to about the incoming president (or any of them for that matter), I can state my opinion and what I am seeing in things like the NTY, LA Times, WaPo, Washington Times and local and state papers, along with blogs, etc.

And we can keep our 'hate' channels since we are seriously outnumbered in the media in general...although not if Pelose/Reid/Kennedy get their way...the free market is ONLY allowed to operated freely if it favors the liberals.

MyOctober...cute ;D...JElsea... you cannot criticize The One around here without getting piled on. Fortunately, I've developed a tough hide around here and when I get sick and tired of it, I lurk.

susancns - It is amazing how worked up you are over this. I can give you a list a mile long of things that SHOULD upset you. I guess you haven't been following the news lately (PS: you will find FOX to your liking).

Don't you think going from a normal life to one where you are extremely isolated from every day people is a bit jarring? He was talking about how his life will change. I guess you aren't used to having a human being in the White House.

I also don't see him just sitting around and complaining. He is already setting groundwork to deal with our financial crisis and he isn't even President yet. It's crazy that you hate him so much that you want him to fail - even if it means takng our country down with him.

It's funny. There are some that held on tightly to the one-drop rule (one DROP of black blood=you're black) and not in a warm fuzzy sort of way. NOW that Obama has been elected president these same people are all enlightened and calling him "biracial" (Damned if they are going to have a BLACK president)

Well, his smart side has to come from somewhere, and a black man can't possibly be smart and successful.

Ok, I'm *almost* going to agree with Susan here.

The media is really overdoing the whole "See!! He's just like us!!" angle to all the Obama and family stories. I like him, I voted for him, I'm very happy he's president. But I prefer not to know every mundane detail of his life and his transition to power.

A president should retain a little mystique about him.

I guess I've not noticed the whining or the media overload. I have been going to work, volunteering at church and a tutoring center. Oh I guess I've been busy with family over the holiday. And with my hobbies.

I guess when I take care of my life, I don't have time to worry or be bothered by the things that bother other people.

And for those who deplore the media, move to KY. Here, we have the thing called cable TV (other have satellite). There are hundreds of channels with all points of view availble. And get this - our TVs, come with this switch that usually says 'power'. That way, if we don't like what we hear or feel it doesn't represent us, we can turn off the thing. Cool huh?

Jelsea and October - You are always welcome to post here. Please don't let other people's insecurities prejudicies (and intermittent hissy fits) determine whether or not you post here. None of us always right and none of us always wrong.
