Default Fort Hood shootings

Over the years here I keep reading about support for the military, but I find it very discouraging that there has been no mention/ postings of the murders on Ft Hood base.

13 people died because of a nutcase. Personally, I can't wait until they are able to interrogate him to find out why in the hell he did such a thing. Media is already trying to spin this that HE is the victim. I call ********. I'm just sorry that Sgt. Munley didn't get off a headshot. OTOH, I'm really impressed (and glad) that he was taken down by a woman as he didn't particularly care for them.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,572726,00.html

I think they should raise the death count by one as one of the female soldiers was pregnant.

And yes, I do think it was a terrorist attack. I have read several sources that have put out tentative feelers that whoever his attorney wil be will try to move it to civilian court. Apparently Governor Perry has heard them also, as he mentioned in his interview that the Uniform Code of Military Justice AND the Sovereign State of Texas both have provisions for the death penalty. Can't occur soon enough for me.

My Army son is hoping for a firing squad, and he's guessing that they'll have to choose by lottery as it is volunteer and there will be lots of them.

And what does the President do? He waits until AFTER a conference is over to say anything and he has to start it out in a lighthearted fashion with a 'shout out' to a Congressional Medal of Honor winner Dr. Joe Medicine Crow. Another gaffe on the part of POTUS as Dr. Crow received the Freedom Medal from Obama in August. As it is not an honor lightly given...you'd think he could remember that little detail. The man is a disgrace.

Flame away.

It's an American issue, a tragedy without political leanings. Unless you want to make it one.

Actually, it rather made sense to have it in this section.

I just think it's important to investigate this before jumping to conclusions. What happened there was horrible. Obama didn't fail us on this; I don't see how.
I am proud of the female police officer that took this murderer down. She is a hero. If it wasn't for her, more people would've died, that's for sure.
I hope they investigate this thoroughly and that justice is served.

Now its being reported that the woman wasn't the one who shot him down. It was another officer:

I don't see how it matters in the big picture whether it was Munley or Todd that took him down. Both officers are heroes, IMO. Both responded to the incident, both faced danger. She took several bullets in the course of doing so. So both should get plenty of credit.

I don't disagree. I was trying to point out that we haven't all the facts, yet.

There is some information now coming out that Hasan is paralyzed from the waist down. I'm glad. I want him to suffer, for all the suffering he caused.

Wow. SO many thoughts. I do not understand why someone said an automatic reaction of "blame it on Obama" is the prevailing thought. Because, nothing Obama has done is his fault, he inherited the problem, right?

But, truly, it is NOT the fault of a president. Fault? Major Hasan broke his mind. Occupational hazard of being a shrink. If he were Jewish and screamed "Six Day War, Everyone!" instead of "Allah Akbar", people would still be dead. I am pissed off because the Amercan taxpayers footed the bill for this a-hole's education and training at Walter Reed. I hate to say this, but the Army really dropped the ball on this. My beau is retiring from the military after 21 years of service (and if anyone can offer a job to a Surface Warare Officer, please, let me know) and he has met those of every faith. He had a guy working for him who was a member of a small church of snake-handling Christians. Yay for diversity, as long as the guys can do their jobs and keep their mind. You cannot tell me that there were not superiors who didn't notice that Major H. was a wee bit crazy. But in the interest of cultural diversity, no one wanted to make a peep. I am sure those who lost their loved ones really appreciate the culturally diverse military think.

So, some want to call this a terrorist attack- then why can Atty Holder try terrorists as civilians after 9/11? Those who were responsible for the USS Cole (and yes, I lost someone in engineering on that ship) are in military courts... Why, then, are the dirtbags who killed thousands on 9/11 civilians? Has everyone forgotten that a plane hit the Pentagon? That is a military target, and that plane hit right in Naval Warfare planning. Dead sailors and civilians there, and men who are still alive, like a man that I used to go drinking with, scarred and needing canes to walk because of severe burn and impact damage.

Oh, and great timing- Veteran's Day week.

Nope, it's already been blamed on Bush.

I don't hate him. I just don't think he is qualified or experienced enough for the position. He was a part time legislator for 15 years. He was in national office for around 6 months before running for president, after saying at his swearing in for Congress that it was 'too soon' to think about running for president.

I just don't see how he was even remotely in a position to run, but less be elected. And that was barely elected.

I might agree with you, in retrospect, that Obama was a bit too unexperienced to run for President (I supported Kucinich during the primaries myself). I'll make up my mind after he's been in office longer and lived up to (or not lived up to) more of his campaign promises.

But to think of the alternative to Obama?...*shudder*
