Jumping into this thread a bit late but I agree that babies don't need water. At this age, everything they take in should count. My first son nursed on demand and was a 2 hour feeder for a very long time, very rarely did he go 3 hours.
With my new little on, I nurse on demand and the only "scheduling" I do is to make sure that he doesn't go more than 3 hours between feeds because he was born early and is so small. I don't eat and drink on a fixed 3 hour schedule all day, everyday so I don't expect a growing baby to do that either.
