I think your OB is right. Some women just gain more, especially if they are mid-size to begin with. That was me...45-50 pounds each pregnancy...I freaked out an OB or two in my day also. There was just nothing I could do to stop the gaining. I always ate well and had healthy pregnancies though, no pre-eclampsia, no high BP, no diabetes, just 50 pound gains, which fell off quite easily after delivery.

I didn't know you were pregnant. CONGRATS! You look great!

Congrats, Rhe! I had no idea you were preg - and I will say that if the weight really bothers you, don't look at it. If you are eating healthy, exercising, etc. then you know you are doing everything to gain a healthy amount of weight.

My docs did not tell me at all until after I had my daughter at my request. I ate a lot of salads (with full fat cheeses and dressings) and a lot of smoothies (with sugar). I was able to lose all of it within a year of having her - 70lbs! I am only 5 feet tall!

Thumbs up

Yes, I agree that some women gain more. When I hit the third trimester I felt like my body weight was pretty much out of my hands. If anything, I was eating even LESS at that point because I didn't have enough space for more than a few bites.

It all came off within months anyway.

Thanks! And thanks to Munchy and gemini as well. I went back to the doctor today for my 24 week visit and I told her I had no desire to see what was on the scale or be told. Ha. She was cool with that and basically said that number didn't matter to her as long as other factors were good, and everything today was great, so hmph. Stupid scale. I put mine up at home too. All it was doing was causing stress, and that I do not need.

I've apparently exploded out over the last few weeks...

Aww, thank you! You're too kind.

Deedles, you look great! You don't look big at all to me, not overall, nor for how far along you are.

Pixie, look how cute you are! I'm about the same size as you, and I hope I look like that when I'm pregnant!

Thanks guys! I don't know if the picture really represents it, but the dress made me look even bigger than I am. The photographer asked me when I was due and was shocked when I said end of December because he thought I was near the end. And people at the wedding who hadn't seen me in a while kept saying "Wow, I knew you were pregnant, but I didn't expect you to look THIS pregnant yet!" I wasn't offended or anything, it's actually kind of funny to me.

Beautiful bellies, everyone!

I agree that some women just gain more. I was fairly slim to begin with, and I gained 50 pounds with my first. After Dylan, I very quickly lost 35 pounds. I got pregnant again with those 15 pounds left over, and gained 35 pounds with my second pregnancy, so i weighed exactly the same by the end. It's like that weight is my body's happy place while it's making a baby, no matter what weight I start off with. I figure it knows what it's doing.

Me too. I gained less with each subsequent baby but ended up at the same weight all 3 times. I joke that the weight I'm trying to lose now is all from my 8 yo, but it's true- the 10 lb I needed to lose when I got pregnany with Max and the 20 lb I never managed to lose from him.
