And now for a name...
I like the following names: Memphis, Porter, Blu, Camp, Rainer.
My thoughts:
Memphis: I feel like it's hard to say. Like some people will pronounce it MeNphis. I'm from TX & an area where people have lazy speech patterns... very "fphfphfph" sounding also. However- I like that it's slightly bad-ass sounding. Like Memphis Reins on Gone in 60 seconds...
Porter: I think it sounds good with River.
Blue: Love this but my mother in law said,"Little Boy Blue" and I know a lot of peoepl will associate it w/ a dog's name. However- I think a lot of the boy names I like sound like dog names for some reason...
Camp: It's different, it's nature-y, it's even a family name on my dad's side..., it goes w/ River- but is it too "out there"? And when said with a last name Camp____- will it sound like a Summer Camp name . Might be better for the middle name...
Rainer- I like it w/ River. I always wanted to name a girl Rain...
Thoughts? Opinions? Which of these do you like best? For first or middle?

Blu and Camp sound to me like Sarah Palin kid names.
Would you pronounce Rainer like Rain- er? It's also a German name pronounced Rine -er so any Germans you meet might mess it up. If you always wanted a daughter called Rain, are you planning to have more kids? B/c if you are, you might have a girl and want to use the name. If you're pretty sure this is it for you then go ahead!
None of the names are really my taste but you have to go with what works for you.

Well, I think it will bother me if his name is constantly being mis-pronounced.

For some reason, Memphis sounds like a girl to me. I dunno, just first impression. Probably because most place/person names are girls names like Paris, Dakota, Savannah etc. Do you have a close relation to the place? Otherwise it seems a little strange.
Don't name your kid Camp. Camps are places. It's something you do. It's also silly and teasing. It's also not a name I see him being comfortable using in a professional setting. Maybe, maybe not.
Generally I say to each their own when naming their children. I will say as a teacher, if inwardly giggle when I come across a child named after a color.

Porter and Memphis are the only ones I could see using as first names. It looks like I'm the only one to vote so far, lol.
Rainer could be okay, but it just makes me think of Rainn Wilson from The Office.
Blue could be a middle name.

I agree! LOVE Memphis!
I think Camp & Blue would cause a lot of teasing.

I know someone with sons named Parker and Foster. They're both "er" names and you won't hear them every day.

Are you open to suggestions?
Nature-y themed names: Leif, Stone (one of the guys in Pearl Jam is named Stone), Forest, Rowan (a tree), Cliff, Glen, Jasper
Names that sound good with River (even though their names won't always be paired together): Elijah, Landon, Eli
Place names: Dalton, Greely, Dawson, Everest, Chad, Raleigh, Austin, Dallas, Everett (don't know if you'd be keen on the TX ones but I included them anyway)

Blue or Camp would be middle names if used.

The only one I really like is Memphis. Camp is growing on me. Actually I like it more than I like Memphis. And don't let the possibility of other people screwing up your kid's name stop you from using it. I've learned people will mess your name up no matter what. I can't tell you how many times someone has called Eliza "Elijah".
Blame it on the cell phone...

Porter's the only one that sounds to me like a name and that's probably due to Desperate Housewives.
Camp is just plain odd. Does camp have the same gay connotation (sp?) in the US as it has here?

Out of all of these I like Porter best.
I think Blue and Camp would make good middle names?
My niece is going to name her son Hunter if she has a boy. It's an outdoor name unless you are anti-gun.
Hunter Blue?
