Due tomorrow and baby hasn't dropped

Like Tree2Likes

I'm just a little frustrated I went to the Dr today and he checked me and I was a 1 (which is good I normally don't dilate until labor) but the baby's head is still "floaty". If he would just drop we could get this show on the road

I wouldn't get frustrated just yet - you're not even at your due date! Things can change quickly and a doctor can't predict that.

I've read that second-and-later babies sometimes don't engage until labor actually begins. Don't stress -- it will happen! Nobody's pregnant forever.

None of my babies dropped until I was in transition. And I was never dilated past 2. As a matter if fact, I was a 2 with ds2 and labor started that night.

Come swag with me!
I'm just at the I'm ready to be done point. Today has been awful it's really hot here and I'm swelling up like a tick! I wanted to go for a walk to maybe help things along but shoes are not my friends today, infact I picked my son up from school without shoes.

Spend some time on your hands and knees. Washing your kitchen floor on H&K is one of the best things you can do in late pregnancy (sorry...I hate to advocate for housework, but this really is the truth). The position forces gravity to act on the heaviest part of the baby...the back...and pulls it downward and helps baby get into occiput anterior position, which encourages engagement, which encourages labor.

Most second and subsequent babies do not engage until labor is imminant, and a lot more don't engage until late in labor. But working on H&K can only help.

Good luck and best wishes for a peaceful, gentle labor and healthy and happy mom and baby.

I am now 3 days late!! And thanks to RedCatWaves will be scrubbing floors tomorrow if I don't go into labor tonight! I have spent my day sitting on an exercise ball and walking and more walking and "spending time" with my husband :-) and drinking red raspberry leaf tea like crazy!!

Hands and knees worked for me. Although, I didn't do housework. My midwife gave me an exercise to do because my son was causing me excruciating pain. I wasn't due for 2 more weeks, but I ended going that night, much to everyone's surprise.

Good luck.

Hands and knees worked for me too; my last baby was 11 days "late". Try to relax, it won't be more than a couple of weeks at the most.
Scrubbed the floor on my hands and knees so far nothing 4 days late and counting lol. I go back to the Dr on Tuesday and then he said we will talk about when to induce. He's worried about me going too far over because I have big babies. My first baby was 8lbs 2oz and my second was 9lbs 2oz. I don't want to be induced but I'm getting tired of all the phone calls wondering if I've had him yet

What's wrong with big babies? They really aren't any more difficult to birth than small babies. The weight babies gain in the last few days is fat...and fat squishes. You aren't technically "late" until 42 weeks. I suspect you are only 40 weeks and 4 days. Not late at all. 40 weeks is only an average. As long as everything is healthy inside for baby, it's better to let baby come out on their own time. You really can just say "no" to unnecessary induction.

That said, I know how difficult it is to say no to over-ambitious OBs. Keep doing what you're doing...and maybe cancel that appointment and reschedule for Thursday or Friday. They can't bully you if you aren't there.

Good luck. I know it can be difficult when you are done, but the baby isn't.
Well went to the Dr today and my BP was up and my fluid was pretty low and I had protein in my urine so we will be inducing tomorrow night

Good luck! Hope all is going well

Well I got to the hospital Wednesday night at 5 to be induced with cidotech. The dr went to insert the pill and realized I had progressed enough and broke my water. That was quite the shock I had been planning on laying around all night with nothin happening since the cidotech didn't work on me in my first pregnancy so i was like "y'all it's fixin' to get real, real soon" my labor was not horrible for the most part even after they started the pitocin but at the end the back labor was so intense I thought my back was going to break. Anyway loooong story short Lincoln Marshall was born on Thursday morning May 3rd at 11:15 weighing 8lbs 4oz (I was expecting over 9lbs so I was surprised he was so little) and was 21 inches long (I think I was still pretty high when I was told all the numbers so I can never remember his length) we are both doing great!!!
