Default Baby shower stress

So I'm having a pregnant pitty party, my baby shower is tomorrow and it's looking like it's only going to be 6 people. I only invited 13, so it's not really a surprise, but only having so few to invite Is starting to get to me.

We live in costa rica, and have barely been here 2 years, we work from home so haven't been able to meet people that way and our Spanish is terrible which is also limiting. I also had loads of friends disappear once I got pregnant as they didn't seem interested once we weren't out partying.

I know I shouldn't be feeling so down about it, but I've had a pretty horrible pregnancy, the first 6 months were he'll and I barely left the house, so I feel isolated and am dreading that it's going to be worse once the baby arrives.

I just needed to vent I guess.

Hugs.

You have more people with your six than I'd have. I don't even know anyone to invite to a baby shower. Other than my sister, my mom, and a childhood friend.

Thats it.

I'm sorry you are feeling down. Its better with fewer people. You don't have to entertain so much.

Since is only six people...why don't you tell them to meet at a restaurant instead? Everyone can pay their own food and they can give you the presents there...some places allow you to bring your cake/cupcakes for your guests. It would be a little less "casual" than having it at your house.

My second baby shower (hey I was having a baby of the opposite sex) was only about 6 people and I enjoyed it much more than my huge first one. Just try to enjoy the time with the people closest to you. I found those were the people who really stuck around in my kids' lives anyway.

It's too late to change anything Mrs cabernet, but that probably would have been a better idea in hindsight.

I'm actually feeling much better about the whole thing this morning. I think my hormones really had taken a dive yesterday giving me one of those "the world is ending" kind of days.

Whoever comes will come, and bf has said he's going to come back from his day out early for moral support as he knows how much this has been stressing me out. So now the only thing to do is get a oeoteub treatment on my hair and pray it does as it's told for a change

I'd much prefer a party of 6 people I actually liked, than a party of dozens that I don't like all that much. Enjoy your party.

How did it go? I'm not sure about Central America, etc., but I've heard baby showers are more of an American thing. Don't take it too personally.

My kids were born in the dead of winter (not technically, but weatherwise). I tried to get out as much as I coud but yeah, it was isolating. But if the weather is good there, I'm sure you will be able to take walks to the park and meet other moms w/ little kids. Have you chosen a pediatrician yet? Maybe your pediatrician knows of some Mommy & Me type groups (if they exist there).
